Food it's what I do..... I spend about 13 hours a day in a kitchen. Either at home or work.
I make desserts at home and savory treats at work.
I am a foodie and believe that we are what we eat so be wise about what you put in your body.
I cook with all natural fresh ingredients.
My favorite things to cook
Anything my better half eats. Mainly sweet treats to go with his coffee every morning.
I love baking breads. I guess its the kneading part of the processes... I do not use a machine at all. Everything I do is very "Old World Style"
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was little, I wanted to eat like the white folks in my school. Boxed hamburger helper, wonder bread, circles and squares (bologine and kraft singles). My grandmother being raised in a countryside of Spain, would declined. "NO," she would say. "Food shouldn't come in a box, it should come from the dirt and animals."
We would take a field trip to the farmers market, produce mexican market, and small ethnic stores for the harder to find spices.
She would show me the different between spices from different worlds.
With our bags of goodies, we would go home and make from scratch "hamburger helper."
Same way my grandmother taught me, is the same way I still cook.
My grandmother was her own business woman with her bakery in Spain.
My cooking triumphs
Working with some of San Diegos best chefs.
My cooking tragedies
Burning the pork shoulder after it was slow roasted in a banana leaf on the grill.
