About this Cook
I typically cook for myself and my parents. They are very supportive of my efforts even when they don't come out perfectly. I live in New Zealand so sometimes I have to look up American terms in recipes I don't understand.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that turns out well! I'm well practised at making biscuits (cookies) but we are trying to be healthier and consume less sugar. I like making anything with chicken, garlic, potatoes, soy sauce or pasta.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Not too many traditions in my family. I hope to be able to make Pavlova like my Mother one day!
My cooking triumphs
Making a great Pad Thai with a recipe from this site. The key is to get all the real ingredients and not cut corners. As in life!
My cooking tragedies
Chicken Mole. Not sure if it just wasn't to our taste but it was inedible! Typically my biggest problem is timing - It's hard trying to get everything to the table at the same time!

Chicken Broth in a Slow Cooker
Very good. It was cheaper to buy a whole chicken than to buy a kilo of pieces so I roasted a chicken then stripped most of the meat and used the carcass for this recipe. I then used the broth to make a recipe from this site called Sopa de ajo (Mexican garlic soup), it was delicious.

Sopa de Ajo Mexicana (Mexican Garlic Soup)
Yum! I served this without the bread to cut back on carbs. I also didn't use a chile pepper as I can't really handle spicy food, instead I added just a dash of tabasco sauce. I also added chicken meat to make it more substantial but it didn't really add anything so I won't use that next time. I used homemade chicken broth because it constitutes the main volume of this recipe so wouldn't use a storebought stock. I ended up having two servings! very nice as a starter or just a light meal or lunch. I'll definitely make it again :)

Baked Kale Chips
It tasted like broccoli. I managed to get them to the right level of crispness but I didn't really like the flavour but then again I hadn't tried kale at all before so I didn't know what to expect. The texture meant it was more enjoyable than broccoli - which I hate - but I doubt I'll make it again.
