About this Cook
My mother is an excellent cook, and despite trying to learn I never really took to it. Christmas of 2012, she has knee-replacement surgery, so I decided to take over cookie-making. I was also invited to a cookie swap and make cookies for my boyfriend's family. In the month of December, I made HUNDREDS of cookies. I've been going and going ever since. So thrilling to make good food. Still hate to cook, but I ADORE baking.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. Cookies are my favorite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We do fondue for Christmas, which is fantastic. Otherwise, not too many traditions. My mother makes a fantastic strawberry rhubarb pie for my Dad's birthday in June every year. And an apple pie for my brother's in October. Delicious.
My cooking triumphs
Christmas cookie season 2012.
My cooking tragedies
That I didn't learn sooner... Also some pretty awful peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip balls. My boyfriend saved those, though, and they were fantastic.

Aunt Norma's Rhubarb Muffins
SO good! I was gifted some rhubarb recently and scoured the internet looking for what to do with it. These caught me right away, I've not made muffins before (very new baker), so I decided to give it a go. SO glad I did. Easy, but so much delightful flavor. I really like the walnuts, unlike a few others, I think they add some texture that they may suffer without, however if I make them again (which I plan to) I may use a different nut. Very, very pleased.
