Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I thought I already had the best ever pancake recipe...but I was wrong! This recipe is even better! The only change I make is using apple cider vinegar in place of the white, it gives them a great flavor! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
5 stars for this! I added a few Tablespoons of worchestershire and some garlic salt because I felt the end product lacked a little flavor and with these changes it was perfect! Served it up on some dutch crunch rolls with mayo and provolone cheese! Delicious dinner! Thanks for the recipe!

Nitey Night Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
I didn't add the sugar gradually, I accidentally dumped it all in...so the texture was sort of weird and they actually didn't cook all the way through for some reason.

Cheesy Onion Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
I make all kinds of homemade breads. Probably three times a week I make some sort of bread from scratch. My husband said that these biscuits were his absolute favorite! I doubled the recipe and I added a little extra cheese, about 3/4 cup, and threw in a few shakes of parmesean cheese as well. I didn't have any buttermilk on hand, so I substituted regular milk with 1 1/8 tsp cream of tartar, which I let sit for about 10 minutes. I also sauteed the onions in a small frying pan with a Tbsp of butter until they were translucent. The results were phenomenal!!!! The biscuits were super moist and had the most amazing flavor, just the right mix of cheese and onion! This is going in with my favorites for sure!!!

Best Butternut Squash Soup Ever

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
The only change I made to this recipe was to oven roast a whole squash instead of a half. I cut it in half, and cooked it at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes with a tablespoon of butter in the middle and seasoned with salt and pepper. I left everything else the same. This was honestly the best butternut squash soup I have ever tasted!!!! And I was so happy that it didn't have any cream or potatoes in it. Thank you for this recipe, my entire family loved it! Three generations of us :)

This was actually pretty darn good. I added extra corn and salsa and used brown rice instead of white. It was enjoyed by the whole family.

Belle and Chron's Spinach and Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2007
This quiche is delicious!! My husband and daughter love it when I make this one. I think the next time I make it, I'm going to use a little less cream and perhaps an extra egg. It seems like it's not quite eggy enough for me. Edited to add: I've now made this recipe close to ten times, we still love it just as much as we did the first time we tried it. I always add an extra egg and use only 1 cup of half and half. I use whatever cheese I have on hand, which usually is a colby or cheddar/jack blend. I load it up with lots of fresh spinach and mushrooms. It's a really great quiche, definitely my go to quiche recipe.

Broccoli Casserole III

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2010
This is a family favorite for as long as I can remember. We make this for every thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. We use a 9x13 inch pan, 3 packages of chopped broccoli, a little over half the big block of Velveeta cheese. I then melt 1/2 cup butter and mix with 2 sleeves of crushed Ritz crackers until moist. I drizzle any leftover butter over the cheese/broccoli mixture before putting the crackers on top.

Aunt Phyllis' Magnificent Cheese Ball

I have never made a cheeseball before. I followed the advice of others and added about twice the amount of powdered cheese to it. I also added garlic powder. It was a huge hit!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
I made these cookies tonight because I was in the mood to bake cookies and didn't have chocolate chips or oatmeal in the house to make my usual cookies. I am so glad I stumbled upon this recipe!!!! I followed the recipe exactly, except I used butter instead of margarine. These are my new favorite cookie! I made 2 dozen and I swear 4 of us ate 15 cookies already and it's only been a couple of hours since I took them out of the oven! They have the PERFECT texture, soft and chewy on the inside with a nice crisp edge. The flavor is phenomenal! I might even add a little extra spice next time to really spice it up. My dough was sticky and I was a little concerned about it at first, but they turned out beautiful! I didn't quite roll them into balls because of the stickiness, but that didn't seem to matter. They do spread a lot so make sure you leave plenty of room between each cookie. I'm putting this recipe in my book of all time favorites that I'm putting together for when my children are grown.

Banana Frittata

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
I was really impressed with how good this tasted. The eggs gave it a great texture, it was a refreshing change from our regular sunday morning pancakes. I used 2 large bananas, and at first I was worried that it was too much, but I dumped them all in anyway and it was so good! I didn't put anything on top of it, it was so sweet as it was. My girls loved it, too! I didn't even tell them there wasn't syrup on it, they never noticed! This is going in my family favorites recipe book! Thanks so much for this recipe! The only change I made was to omit the oil. I just used about 1T butter in the pan and it was perfect. This made 3 servings for me.

I followed the advice of Alexsmomi and put the 2 halves into the microwave for 5 minutes first. Then added the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and baked for 20 mins at 350. It turned out so good!

No Bake Peanut Butter Cookies I

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2010
I'm giving these 4 stars. I think the recipe as written is 3 stars, but with a little tweaking it tastes like 5 stars. When I made this recipe as written I found it to be incredibly sweet and a lacking some flavor. So I upped the cocoa to 3T, cut the sugar back to about 1 1/2 cups and threw in a pinch of salt. That made it worth 5 stars!!!!

Whole Grain Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
These had a really nice flavor. I found them a little difficult to cook, though. I had to grease my pan more than I'm used to because they tended to stick, even to my amazing, expensive, non-stick pan! They also got brown really fast and didn't set up as quickly in the middle, so I had to turn the temperature down quite a bit and cook them much longer. I made a few changes to the original recipe. I didn't have any cornmeal, so I substituted wheat germ. I also didn't have any buttermilk, so I used lemon juice and milk. I added some cinnamon and vanilla for a little extra flavor. I think next time I will leave some of the sugar out of it, because the pancake was pretty sweet. All in all this is a very nice base recipe. I think with a little more tweaking it could be close to perfect.

Banana Pancakes II

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
These were good. Definitely a lot of banana flavor and very moist! I didn't have buttermilk so I improvised using vanilla yogurt and milk. I also added some cinnamon. We all thought the flavor was awesome! I'll definitely make these again.

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
I forgot to add the extra 1/2 c milk like so many reviewers suggested. I regret that, as the cake is very dense and a bit crumbly without it. I loved the flavor and it was definitely at hit at the party. I just feel like a little extra moisture would have made it out of this world. I did whip the eggs as the final step and folded them into the batter as opposed to beating them in.

Fresh Pineapple Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
The flavor of this cake was superb!! I have made a few pineapple upside down cakes in the past, it's one of my daughters' favorites and she has requested it on several occasions. I tried this one for her birthday cake this evening and it was a huge hit. I won't look for another recipe, this is it. Hands down the best I've ever tried. I didn't change anything at all except I doubled the recipe, baked in a 9x13 glass dish at 375 for about 45 mins. It was perfect. Oh, and I added some marachino cherries for color, but other than that I followed the recipe exactly.

So delicious!! I made it two times in one week. I followed others recommendations and sweat the eggplant for 30 mins first. I also cranked up the temp to 450 and cooked them for 5 minutes on each side. We all loved this recipe!

Fruited Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2005
I used fresh picked blackberries instead of strawberries and it was amazing. It turned out really creamy, just the way we like it. I guess my ice cream maker is on the small side, because this reciped yeilded 3 batches! I would probably half it next time, but I wouldn't change anything else about it!
