About this Cook
I'm a mama of two little one's. I'm trying to expand my cooking skill and knowledge so I've been scouring this website trying new recipes and using my husband as the guinea pig... he doesn't mind at all!
My favorite things to cook
Breads, casseroles, fun salads, yummy desserts
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love our traditional holiday dinners. And I always try to bring a fun new side dish for everyone to try out.
My cooking triumphs
Are occuring with each newly acquired cooking skill or bit of knowledge retained.
My cooking tragedies
I left the house while I was trying a new banana bread reicpe. I figured I'd be home with plenty of time to spare before the bread was done baking. When I walked back in the house was filled with smoke! All of my mini loaf pans had over flowed all over the bottom of my oven! Yuck.

Pear or Apple Cobbler
Oh my gosh this is so delicious!!! I used some pears that we received in a gift basket that were perfectly ripe. My husband loved it and asked if I would make it for Christmas. Next time I will definitely cut back on the sugar. The pears are so sweet anyway, so I'll cut back on both the maple syrup and the brown sugar in the topping. It was amazing, though. We topped it off with some french vanilla ice cream. I can't wait to make it again.

Best Butternut Squash Soup Ever
The only change I made to this recipe was to oven roast a whole squash instead of a half. I cut it in half, and cooked it at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes with a tablespoon of butter in the middle and seasoned with salt and pepper. I left everything else the same. This was honestly the best butternut squash soup I have ever tasted!!!! And I was so happy that it didn't have any cream or potatoes in it. Thank you for this recipe, my entire family loved it! Three generations of us :)
