Gingered Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
Very nice side for our ham dinner on Christmas day. I didn't have cream so used milk thickened with a little flour. Will make again.

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: May 11, 2010
Made exactly as directed. It was too bland for our taste. Won't make again.

Shrimp Burritos

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
I have been searching for a recipe for Shrimp Burritos from Rubios restaurant. Love those! This is a reasonable substitute. I used sour cream instead of the yogurt/mayo mix; hubby and I enjoyed the spicy kick of the chipotle peppers but had to tone down the mixture for my kids. Also used the Best Spanish Rice recipe from this site in place of the version shown here, only because that is my tried and true spanish rice recipe. These burritos were very enjoyable and I would make them again.

Dale's Lamb

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
We love lamb at our house and on the surface this seemed like it would be a yummy recipe. Not so. Personally I thought the marinade/sauce was too thick and sweet and obscured the taste of the lamb. Try the Garlic and Herb Lamb for an easy but impressive dinner on lamb chops or leg of lamb.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Excellent recipe which is good enough for company. I browned the meat and sausage then simmered the sauce on high in my crock pot so that I could finish last minute errands on Christmas Eve. I will definitely make this again with only one change for personal preference - 1 can of tomato paste instead of 2 (two cans seemed like a lot for my taste even as I was adding it). Thanks for a great recipe that was enjoyed by my entire family.

Shrimp Scampi Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
Made a great dinner for my sister & mom on a recent visit. Like others I used half the butter and had plenty of sauce. Served over pasta with an italian salad and garlic bread on the side.

Tuna Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
First let me say that I'm not big on tuna casserole but this was a enjoyed by my family and it gets an extra star since I had most of the ingredients on hand. I substituted rotini pasta for the egg noddles due to allergies but kept everything else the same. Thanks for a recipe that didn't have me running to the store for a can of condensed soup! Very good and I will definitely make this again.

Garlicky Baked Butternut Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2008
This was very, very good. 5 stars from everyone in my family, including my 2 picky kids. I used dried basil in place of the fresh parsley. So delish that I plan to add it to my Thanksgiving menu. Thanks for the recipe!

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
Oh my goodness, can I just say that this recipe made me feel like a professional chef! I didn't have time to marinate overnight but it was still delicious after only a couple of hours marinating in Kraft spicy BBQ sauce the fridge. I've made slow cooker BBQ ribs using a similar recipe with only so-so results. With this version, I followed the advice of other reviewers and removed the foil towards the end, basting with more BBQ sauce and broiling on both sides for 7 mins each. The broiling gave it just the right finish. This was enjoyed by my family, including my 2 picky girls who usually have opposite tastes. Try it & enjoy!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2008
The carrot cake is amazing! My husband asked for a carrot cake for his birthday and this one was better than store-bought. I made it with the suggested changes (1/2 cup applesauce and less oil, 3 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg). We gave some to our neighbors and they said it was restaurant-quality. Thanks to Tammy for a fantastic recipe and to other reviewers for the extra touches.

Garlic and Herb Lamb

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
I MUST give this one 5 stars. This recipe is fantastic. I made it today as an early Valentine's dinner and it was a hit. The only change I made was to press a couple cloves of garlic into the dill/rosemary rub. The dish turned out tender, juicy, and tasty. I served it with seasoned potatoes and corn. Will make again - an easy way to impress dinner guests. Try this one, you definitely won't be disappointed.

Spaghetti Sauce I

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
Delicious and quick; this was a hit with my kids. I used minced garlic and just a tablespoon of sugar, following the advice of some of the other reviwers, and substituted frozen meatballs for the ground beef. I always imagined that homemade sauce would be a challenge but this was so easy that I'll use this in place of the jarred sauce in the future. Thanks!

Sweet and Sour Pork III

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
Delicious! I've made this twice, first with pork then with chicken breast. Both times this was a hit with my family. It does make a lot of (yummy) sauce - my second time around I didn't add the 1/4 cup of water at the end and it turned out fine.

Bacon Cheese Frittata

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2007
Yummy frittata! I substituted ham for the bacon and used a mix of mozzarella and cheddar cheese because that's what was in my kitchen. Great idea for an easy breakfast for overnight guests. Will make again.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Delicious! This one is a keeper. I didn't have blue cheese dressing so I used a little ranch combined as well as some of the hot sauce/butter mixture for added zing. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2005
Fantastic! These rolls should come with a warning because you can't eat just one. Very easy to make too. I used my stand mixer to knead the dough as another reviewer suggested and they turned out great. Be aware that they are quite sweet; I made them again with less sugar (about 1/4 cup) for a more savory roll that better complimented our lasagna dinner.

Grilled Chicken Salad with Seasonal Fruit

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2004
Awesome recipe; this is great for those nights when you need a quick dinner without sacrificing taste. It is also a very forgiving recipe - use less sugar or oil if you prefer; I've also substituted dry roasted peanuts or almonds for the pecans and sliced mango in place of the strawberries. Delicious!

Becky's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2004
This is delicious, my husband was practically licking his plate. I'll use less mayo next time, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Will definitely make this one again!
