Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
This is how I've always made my applesauce, but, I've never really measured anything. This is why this is such a good recipe---the measurements are spot on. Very good!

Bourbon Pecan Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
The whole family enjoyed this. By mistake I breaded the chicken by dipping in egg & then into the pecan/bread crumb mixture (instead of following the recipe)---but, it worked fine browning the chicken nicely. I also, went by a previous reviewers suggestion and sauted the chicken for a few minutes on each side and then baking in 375 oven for about 20 min. Also, as per several reviewers I doubled the sauce, but, ended up with too much--next time I won't double.

Awesome Egg Salad with a Kick

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2008
This was very tasty. The only change I made was to use real bacon. I toasted the bread and added sliced tomato & lettuce.

Honey Garlic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
Really easy to put together & a lot less $$$ then buying pre-made dressing. Hubby loved the strong garlic flavor, me...not so much. Next time I'll add less garlic. Still yummy on the greens.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
Very nice loaf. Added garlic powder & onion powder (1t), otherwise followed rest of recipe. Leftovers cut into really nice slices the next day to wrap and freeze. Will be making again, liked as much as the traditional beef meatloaf.

Scottish Bubbles and Squeak Patties

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
A hit! Everyone loved this. Didn't make any changes. I thought that there might be too much onion, but, it was fine. Served with sausage & fried apples.

Italian Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
A hit with the Crusty French Bread from AR. I felt that the peppers could have been decreased some, but, kids and hubby says "no"--they liked the heat. I ended up roasting the garlic and smashing it into the seasonings after they where ground. Added the olive oil which made a thick paste. Ended up puttting a dab into a dish and adding more olive oil. Will store in refrigerator & add olive oil as needed.

Crusty French Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
One of the nicest bread recipes I've made from this site. I took the advice of a reviewer below and added a few ice cubes into the bottom of my oven near the end of baking time to allow the steam from the ice to make a hard crust. Very nice taste and texture.

Cream of Herb Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
Was surprised how well everyone liked this. I basically made it thinking only hubby and I would like it, but, the kids loved it too! My broth came out very thin, next time I may add a bit more flour. The only changes I made was using a sweet white onion instead of green onion because that was all I had. Severd with fish & rice, perfect compliment.

Rick's Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2008
Super! Made half the recipe for 24 cupcakes. Very generous topping & had about 3/4 cup leftover. As many others I did half shortening and half butter. I don't consider myself well-versed in the cake decorating department at all....so, I felt pretty proud of myself that I even piped the frosting on and it looked 'almost' professional!!

Amish Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
These are not what I was expecting....kind of tastes like a sugar cookie, but, not nearly the same texture. They do melt in your mouth, which makes them on the dry side and fragile--but, sitll good. I will say the dough is excellent to work with, very easy to use my 1.5" cookie scoop and put 16 balls on each sheet--from start to finish is went fast and it made up a large amount of cookies.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
Fantastic! Perfect to use up the overabundance of tomatoes & fresh basil from the garden. I used 4-5 tomatoes, fresh basil, a lot more spinach, a quarter of a diced onion, extra garlic. The sauce amounts I kept the same.

BLT Bow Tie Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
A dinner hit! The kids and hubby loved this. I guess it's a matter of taste but, they loved the bbq sauce dressing. However, I didn't think it tasted like a BLT because of it, but, still very good. I added half the water, but, next time I probably won't add any because I think it watered down the dressing. I made the dressing part several hours before hand to meld the flavors together. A also seasoned and grilled the chicken.

Apple Sheet Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
A wonderful dessert! It was enjoyed by all. Like a few of the previous reviewers I added cinn. & a 1/4 c. sugar to the crust and I'm glad I did. The frosting made it extra special--kind of a cross between an apple pie and a danish. Glad I found this recipe at the start of the apple season.

Creamy Swiss Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
This is one of those recipes that I had to make changes because I didn't have all the right ingred. Didn't have white wine, so used half chicken stock and half marsala wine (about 1/2 c. each of both). Again no garlic powder so used fresh minced garlic & used Cream of Mush. instead of Cream of Chix. Put over steamed rice. Even with all those changes, ended up being really good...my kids loved it and wanted seconds. Will make again because it was SOOOO easy to put together.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
What a good sauce! Used with the Basil Goat Cheese Pizza...yummy combo! I didn't have anchovy paste or marjoram so I didn't add it. Also didn't have honey so used brown sugar instead. Next time I'll half the sugar.

Basil Goat Cheese Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
Hubby says a 3, I say a 5....so, I'll split it down the middle. Used the Exquisite Pizza Sauce recipe from this site. Yum!! Added a lot more basil and extra fresh rosemary. This was a good pizza!
