Oregano Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2001
YUCK! My husband and I could BARELY finish this. Flavor is terrible. I won't make this again.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2001
I was surprised at how good my filet mignons turned out. I halved the recipe for 2 steaks; subbed 1/4 tsp. ground ginger for fresh and broiled the steaks. These would've been better on the grill instead of broiling. I will definitely make again!

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2001
I thought this was average at best. I made this w/a whole chicken. I think the water is what ruined it. The skin on the chicken remained soft. Not sure if I'll make this again.

Shrimp and Mushroom Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2001
This recipe is very good. I made a low fat version--used low fat marg. and evap. milk. Skipped the mushroom and shallots and sugar. My sauce was pretty thin though because of the evap. milk. I used pre-cooked shrimp. Do not let shrimp heat too long or else they REALLY shrivel up. I will definitely make this again!

Better Slow Cooker Robust Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2001
My husband and I didn't care for this recipe. Cooking time is WAY TOO LONG. I think 2-3 hours would be plenty. There was also too much vinegar and my husband did not like the olives. I would cut vinegar in half and then add 1 T sugar to cut the tartness of the tomatoes. I won't be making this again.

Chicken Cordon Bleu I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2001
Very good! I can NEVER get breasts thin enough to roll so I cut breasts in half almost all the way through and laid a piece of Healthy Choice Ham and provolone in the cut; sprinkled Italian breadcrumbs on bottom of dish; laid chicken on top and then sprinkled more bread crumbs on chicken. Very tasty!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2001
Very good! I made this sauce at a food demo for a grocery store and it was a big hit. I changed recipe though--used crushed tomates; no parsley; 4 cloves garlic; no oregano or salt; added 2 tsp. Italian seasoning; 1 T sugar; cut back a bit on the olive oil. Made this with chicken floured and seasoned with Italian seasoning. Will definitely make again!

Ginger Lemonade

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2001
Didn't care for this much. The lemonade sticks to your mouth and isn't particularly refreshing.

Shrimp Scampi I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2001
Very good! I used frozen med. shrimp already cooked; Italian breadcrumbs and light marg. Cut back a little on the lemon juice. Very tasty and will make again! Even my seafood-hating hubby liked it.

Beef Fillets With Stilton-Portobello Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2001
THIS IS FABULOUS! I made this for a food demo in a large grocery store. During the 3 hours I made this 4 times!!! At one point, all my samples were gone in 15 minutes. People were watching me and trying to memorize my ingredients. I used dried tarragon and gorgonzola. Be careful with the sour cream and cheese. I started off with the full amount but it was too tangy. Cut sour cream in half and then sprinkled in some gorgonzola. I'll definitely make this again!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2001
This was pretty good. I think it lacks slightly in flavor. Next time I will add 1 tsp. cinnamon to give a richer flavor. My husband really enjoyed this so I'll be making this again!!!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2001
This is surprisingly tasty. I didn't think the lemon flavor would come through but it did. I added some dill to the sauce for color and next time I think I'll add grill marks to the chicken and then bake. If you're a sauce lover, I'd double the sauce ingredients as there was just enough sauce for hubby and me.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2001
I really enjoyed these brownies. I was a little leary because of the frosting. I think my husband likes them but every time he eats one he complains that they are "too fudgey." As if there could be such a thing! A tip--wait until these are completely cooled before slicing. I didn't and I have some funky looking bronwies.

I really enjoyed this salad and so did hubby. I took it to a 7/4 bbq. Not sure how others liked it. I'll make it again anyway!!

Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp and Basil

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2001
This was surprisingly good. I only used 1 28 oz. can of tomatoes and that was plenty. My husband is not a seafood lover and he said he'll eat this again!!!! I forgot to add that I omitted the parsley and substituted fresh basil.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2001
This was good but not great. My husband really enjoyed it. I'll make it again because it's so easy and will cut back on the chile powder. This tasted a little too much like chili. There wasn't much sauce either so if you're making 6 breasts, I'd definitely double the sauce ingredients.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2001
I took these to a party over the weekend and they were a hit!!! I used turkey bacon and low fat mayo. I received many comments on how good they were. I did have trouble getting them to cook though. I ended up removing some of the cups that looked cooked through and then finish cooking the cups that I couldn't get to cook through. I also had a lot of filling leftover. With a few adjustments on the prep., this recipe is a winner for me! I'll definitely make these again.

Sauce Rosee

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2001
This sauce is FANTASTIC. I made it for a food demo in a grocery store. Everyone who tried it liked it. I usually do not like what I make but as soon as I took one bite I knew this sauce was a winner. I didn't bother with the peppers or onions. Instead of pasta I had cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into chunks; then I breaded the chunks in flour and oregano then sauteed the floured chicken chunks in olive oil. After sauteeing the chicken, I prepared the sauce in the same pan. I could not believe how good this sauce is. I'll definitely make this again, and again, and again!!!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2001
I took this to a party this past weekend and it did not go over very well. More people ate the chips than the salsa. I don't know why. I really liked it. I guess they weren't a fruit crowd.
