Salsa De Tomatillo

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
This salsa was easy to make and delicious! However, the recipe calls for 2 jalapeno peppers. I used ONE and it was TOO HOT! I am pretty weak when it comes to hot food, but even my husband who likes hot food said it was a little too hot for him. In the future, I will use half a jalapeno or none at all.

Split Pea and Ham Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2005
I love this recipe because it is simple, cheap to make, is filling and very delicious! I used about a half pound of deli ham cut into pieces instead of a ham bone and it turned out great. I also added chopped carrots. After it had cooked for the 2 hours, I blended it with an immersion (stick) blender. My family LOVED this recipe. I will definitely be making this throughout the winter!

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2006
This soup was okay, but was NOT anything great. It was a little too tangy for my taste. I put in twice the amount of basil called for and it still wasn't enough. Also, I added orzo pasta to make it a little more hearty, and that was good. My family liked this okay, but I don't think I'll make it again.

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2006
I was very dissappointed by this dish, considering how great its ratings were! I followed the recipe precisely and they were okay, but not great. I will be looking for a new recipe to try.

Shepherd's Pie V

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2006
This was quite good! However, the meat and veggies are not in a gravy/sauce type mixture like in most Shepherd's pie. It was delicious though! Next time I will omit the salt, as it did not need it.

Green Beans with Hazelnuts and Lemon

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2006
I couldn't find hazelnuts so I used slivered almonds and it was yummy. Next time I will add a tablespoon or so of lemon juice, as it wasn't lemony enough for me. Great recipe though!

Corned Beef Hash

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
I am so glad that I found this recipe! I make it almost once a week now because it is so easy and very yummy. I use 5 potatos instead of 6, and a whole can of beef broth and it is perfect. This is delicious with cottage cheese and crusty bread on the side. Thanks for the excellent recipe!

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
This is DELICIOUS! It's sweet and nutty and very flavorfull! I made a double batch for a family party and it was the first thing to go. I will definitely be making this again. (I blanched the broccoli to take the edge off, and used craisins instead of raisins). Thanks for a GREAT salad recipe!

Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2007
This recipe was super tasty and SO easy! Remember to use self-rising flour (add 1 T baking powder and 1 1/2 tsp salt to All Purpose). This is a KEEPER and we'll be trying it with peaches, etc. as soon as more fruit comes into season this summer. YUMMY! I love recipes that are simple and don't require you to go to the store for ingredients!

Avocado Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
This was delicious! We used a jalapeno instead of a habanero and added red bell pepper. Also added black pepper, though the recipe didn't call for it. It didn't make very much. I'd probably have to quadrouple this for a family gathering :) Definitely a keeper!
