Johnsonville® One-Pan Italian

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
Very easy and delicious meal! I didn't have spaghetti noodles so I subbed linguini. It look longer to cook because of this. Next time I will definitely use spaghetti noodles though (I just have to make sure I have them in my pantry!).

Tre Formaggi Fritatta

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
This was good - made for dinner though and Grumpy felt it should be for breakfast. ;) I think he doesn't know you can eat an "eggy" meal anytime of the day! I used the ground italian sausage instead of the links and added mushrooms and spinach to the mix!

Johnsonville® Smoked Chicken Italian Sausage and Broccoli Rigatoni

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2013
I made this because it was a quick and easy recipe to try after a busy workday. Grumpy was not thrilled that I had chosen this recipe (he is not a fan of peppers) but of course, you don't bite the hand that feeds you! It was not a disappointing dish at all and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I halved the recipe and it was perfect for the two of us. Will make this again for sure when needing something quick and easy! The only thing I did differently was I used a light dressing for less calories.

Mark's Shrimp

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
So sad to say we probably won't have this again as we didn't love it. I had high hopes because Honey Walnut Shrimp is a fav here and this was also a mayonnaise based sauce with a little kick. I don't think there is anything wrong with the recipe, just our taste. BTW LilSnoo's photo is amazing!

Seasoned Swai Fish Fillet

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
This is a lot like a skillet cod with cilantro butter recipe that I make only difference is lemon instead of lime. I probably would not do it in the oven again as it is too easy to overcook and will stick to the skillet. However, the flavor is great - I placed sliced lemons on top of the filets after I poured the butter/garlic mixture on top. Salt and peppered the filets then sprinkled with the cilantro and a little paprika for color.

Creamy Cheese Wontons

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
There is no way I can give this recipe a good thumbs up. For me, it calls for way too much garlic, and this statement is coming from a huger garlic lover! Either its a misprint or someone really loves garlic powder...but 2 tablespoons is outrageous. I would say 1/2 teaspoon is good enough. I only halved the recipe because I was skeptical of the amount of garlic and soy sauce. I didn't use anywhere near the amount of soy sauce called for. I used less than a tablespoon to brush over the tops of the wontons. While I think its a good idea, the amount of garlic and soy sauce needs to be adjusted. I also think the egg yolk is not needed. I would make this again but with major adjustments to the garlic.

Siri's Heart Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
This is an EXCELLENT recipe! I added a little salt but that is all I did differently. The dough was very easy to handle and I believe this will become a go to recipe for sugar cookies.

Cute Cranberry Tangerine Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2013
This is a great recipe. I didn't do anything with the "basics" meaning the flour, sugar, baking powder...however, I didn't have tangerines but had a few blood oranges left that I wanted to use up. I microwaved the cranberries and juice for about 90 seconds instead of simmering on the stove and then let them cool. After everything was mixed in I on a whim threw in about 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips and omitted the sugar sprinkle on top. Theses are amazing, just a little sweet and probably because I added the chocolate. Next time I would go with 3/4 cup sugar. Just as an afterthought...I might also reduce the temp to 350 for myself. 375 browned them quite quickly and the inside wasn't quite ready.

Dill Pickle Martini

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
I agree, surprisingly delicious! If you love pickles, you will love this drink. When I shared this with followers there was some negativity, but this is not that far off from the dirty martini. Definitely garnish with a couple pickle slices. :) I used home canned pickle slices. Will definitely have it again! My motto: Don't knock it til you've tried it.

Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
These were good, but I think I would have liked them better with just brown sugar sprinkled over them and baked. Just personal preference. I am not so sure I prefer to have Ketchup with my bacon.

Vicki's Tangerine Martini

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
I changed proportions slightly and used blood orange juice, triple sec and vanilla vodka. God forbid I use Grumpy's vodka. ;) Anyway, this was a yummy drink. Next time though I would use plain vodka. I used 3 oz blood orange juice, 2 shot glasses vanilla vodka and 1 shot glass triple sec. Went down pretty darn easy. ;)

White Chocolate Mocha

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
I've made this with Green & Black Organic White Chocolate with Madagascar Vanilla bean....OH MY. I haven't been able to find white chocolate syrup around me but would definitely try that too. I used whole milk, no whipped cream - we were happy with just the foam and some more white chocolate grated over the top. Grumpy LOVES white chocolate and he enjoyed a cup of this with me this morning!

Grands!® Ham and Cheese Melts

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
Good in a pinch - I think different fillings would make me like it more. The processed cheese was just too much for me. I used leftover ham that I had baked the prior day. I won't give up on the idea, I'll just use different fillings and forgo the american cheese slices.

Grands!® Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
It was an awful lot of sugar and butter and I actually ended up throwing some of the mixture away because after my 10 minute cool time, when I turned it out onto a platter, a lot of brown sugar mixture was still in the pan. I wouldn't use as much next time - I'd probably use half the sugar and butter. However, that said, this is a yummy treat to have once and a while.

Grands!® Mini Pizzas

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
5 stars because its quick and easy and tasty! When you are tired and don't want to deal with making your own crust, this is the way to go for sure. I personalized it by using Lizabeth Lane Tomatillo Cilantro Pizza Sauce, chicken pieces, and roasted red peppers. Cheese was a mix of mozzarella, provolone and parm. When you don't want a lot of clean up or mess to deal with but need something quick, MAKE THESE!

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
Good recipe - made this for Christmas Brunch this year. I used more milk and flour than the recipe called for. Will make this again, but will add something to it - maybe some diced mushrooms and onion sauteed in with the sausage.

Dill Pickle Meatloaf

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2012
Have made this a few times now and this is my go to recipe for meatloaf as Grumpy likes the dill pickle part and always was requesting I put it in his meatloaf. Great recipe...love it with beef or venison. I really love it in a sandwich the day after with a little mayo :)

Lemon Garlic Hummus

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2012
I had to make several changes after I got started. I used two 15 oz cans of chickpeas. I couldn't see having 1/2 cup left over (2 cups was 1-1/2 cans). I ended up using 3 tablespoons sesame butter (asian style with a little heat), 1/3 cup olive oil and 1-1/2 large lemons (came to 7 tablespoons). I sprinkled with a little cayenne for a little added kick and really upped the garlic just for my own taste. I feel if I had made this as written, it would not have been smooth enough for my taste. Made the way I made it, I would give it 5 stars, thought it was awesome. I feel it needs more oil than the recipe stated, but it could just be personal preference in liking a less chunky hummus.

Fiesta Pinwheels

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
I had no expectations of liking this myself. However, I used a habernero flavored tortilla wrap, fresh salsa, green, red, and yellow pepper. Had no taco seasoning so I used some Chipotle Chili Powder and a little siracha. Wrapped some in plain tortillas for people who don't like spicy - I announced I had them at work and in less than 30 minutes they were GONE. I loved the habernero wrap, gave it just the right kick. Will make these again for a party for certain!

Jumbo Dark Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2012
Absolutely perfect! They went in holiday wrapping to be shipped off to family for this Christmas season. The texture is perfect. I subbed white chocolate chips for part of the morsels and used the dark for the other part. I also added some toasted walnuts. For anyone who thinks these are salty, you are probably using salted butter. The recipe doesn't state to use unsalted butter, but whenever a recipe calls for salt, I either use unsalted butter, or leave the salt out all together if I don't have unsalted butter. However, that all said, I love the salty sweet of a cookie! YUM :)
