Smoothies AND Peanut Butter Pie? How's that?

We have decided that this year we will go to Alexandria Bay for the fireworks over Boldt Castle.  I have lived in this area all my life (am 47 this year!) and have never been to fireworks at the Bay.  I am looking really forward to going!  What are you going to do?

I've been busy.  Busy exercising.  Busy meal planning, and busy wishing I could eat more than I do so I could cook and bake more!  lol.  This is why I need my own bakery.  So I can bake to my heart's content and not have to be the one who eats it all!

I've been making smoothies for breakfast to have after my workout and now am thinking of some quick, low-fat wrap type meal (with tofu or egg, but probably tofu.  I'm not much for eggs) to take with me as I head out the door next week when I go back to work.  This morning I had a Strawberry smoothie, based off the recipe for Blueberry Smoothie that I made yesterday morning.  Yum, these things are so satisfying and refreshing!

Yesterday I threw together the Graham Cracker Crust recipe because I wanted to make a Peanut Butter Pie.  Yes, you heard me right.  A fattening Peanut Butter Pie.  After all my work, I'm making something bad for me.  LOL.  No worries though, the pie is something you can't eat much of at once so I haven't really eaten a lot of it.  Grumpy on the other hand, well, he is a different story!

So, I'm wondering, what are you all doing on the 4th?  Family gathering?  Fireworks?  BBQ?  What treats are you eating?

The recipe for Peanut Butter Pie can be found on The Life & Love's of Grumpy's Honeybunch.

I've been feeling really lazy and unproductive...we *should* do something for the 4th, but we're not going to. I am cooking...have some tomatoes roasting in the oven right now, made brownies for the family last night. I'm going to make blueberries and cream cupcakes in a bit, with strawberry added to make them red, white and blue. Tomorrow we're having buffalo chicken strips, spinach and artichoke dip and Southwestern egg rolls for our 4th dinner...the sun hasn't been out for almost a week now and I *know* without doubt that's what's causing my malaise. I swam yesterday in the clouds out of desperation! lol...I tend to be dramatic. I've been watching for a break in the clouds today and if it happens, I'll be in the water in a snap. The temps have admittedly been cooler than usual for early July, but I'd rather have the sun.

Oh Lynna, I'm sorry you have no sunshine right now! I hope you get some soon! All the food sounds yummy! Especially those Blueberries & Cream Cupcakes!

Hi! We are taking off to the lake tomorrow - for 3 weeks, so furiously gathering up SOME recipes to take with. It'll all be easy stuff. I am getting addicted to cruising your blog 'over there', btw. You have so much good stuff on there, it's amazing, and then of course I get led to another blog, and another. It's great! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

About Me
I am a home cook who works full time and have been a blogger on my own site, Grumpy's Honeybunch, since 2007. I love to experiment and create in the kitchen. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but always fun! My one place I am not the best at is the grill - and I leave that to Grumpy! Since I started using AR several years ago, my home life has changed a lot. We had to relocate for work purposes, My sons no longer live at home and its just Grumpy, me, and our 3 cats. I am a participant in the Allrecipes Allstar program and have had a great time with the challenges as well as the great people I have met through the Allstar program!
My favorite things to cook
I always was a baker but since I started blogging almost 5 years ago, I have also become a more experienced cook. We love pasta meals and especially Asian inspired meals. I love homemade candy although I'm not the best candy maker, I will still attempt it every so often. My very favorite sweet treat from this site is Brooke's Bombshell Brownies. I've taken the recipe and used it as a base to create several different brownie recipes, my favorite being "when life gets you down" brownie (chock full of Peanut Butter flavor) and a peanut butter caramel swirled brownie. Both recipes are on my blog
My favorite family cooking traditions
Summer fish frys at my aunt and uncles home. Homemade fudge and popcorn on Saturday nights while a child! When my boys were younger Friday night was homemade pizza and movie night and some of my most special memories are baking cookies with Nanny. I have every one of her "special" cookie recipes on file and when feeling nostalgia hit I will bake one of her recipes.
My cooking triumphs
My best compliment ever - a cheesecake I made was described to be "better than Juniors!" The pumpkin fudge recipe on this site that I reviewed at 5 stars....this is an awesome cooked fudge recipe. My son totally loves the fudge and so do I!
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was first married, I made fudge. It didn't set up and I was too embarrassed to tell my hubby, so I hid it in the closet (no idea WHY I did such a thing!) and ended up forgetting about it. We came across it one day cleaning and I had to fess up, he had more of a laugh because I tried to hide it!
