Another breakfast post this week.  I've been craving eggs lately and decided to try the cute little individual baked egg cups.  Because I still can't wrap myself around an egg with the yolk not incorporated, I whipped mine up and added some peppers, onions, and diced up a triangle of the… MORE

Its been a long time since I've posted here!  I cook and blog but having time to do a lot is rough.  I just found out that part of the reason I've been so exhausted is my B-12 and Iron was way low and I am anemic.  Started the B-12 shots and supplements about a week and half ago and I am… MORE

After a lot of searching all over for something "special" to make this weekend, I came across the a recipe here on AR for Blueberry Stratta.  I changed it up some and omitted the blueberry sauce.  Made it a little richer and more of a comfort food by adding heavy cream and crystallized sugar.… MORE

Never in my life did I think I would drink booze in the AM.  ;)  Seriously!  LOL.  However, I decided I wanted to try making a Bloody Mary on my own.  My friend is a bartender and she was making this drink for people one night and let me try a little taste - and I… MORE

I love that Allrecipes has been putting up pancake recipes as the recipe of the day on the weekend.  We are big pancake eaters here and I love trying new things all the time.  When I saw their Chunky Monkey Pancake recipe this morning I knew I had to make them.  They are a great recipe.  I… MORE

I never really thought of a Mango Lassi as a breakfast drink, but really, what is it?  Its just another version of a smoothie to me.  I really love the recipe on here for Mango Lassi II.  Usually I adjust the amount of sugar to the sweetness of the mango.  The mango I used yesterday was… MORE

Right now blueberries are abundant in the grocery and the sale price is good.  I am a sucker when it comes to them - I can't pass them up.  Therefore I am always looking for ways to use them that I haven't used them before.  I happened across a recipe from Tyler Florence for Blueberry… MORE

to blueberries.  I can't leave them alone.  The weekend I made blueberry pancakes I had two pints in the house.  I one pint for the pancakes and finished of the pint throughout the morning.  Then, the next morning I didn't bother to use them in anything.  I washed them and ate the whole… MORE

There is something about mini foods that appeals to me.  Maybe it is because I like to keep my diet in check.  Not that I always do that mind you!  Maybe it's a "girl" thing.  Thinking baby everything is cute!  I have made mini bacon breakfast rolls, mini donut muffins, and mini… MORE

This recipe has been all the rage on AR  recently and I decided I had to find out if they were all "that".  Well, I must say, they are all "that".  These were the most perfect little bites I had eaten in a long while.  The coolest thing about them?  No eggs.  Just butter… MORE

About Me
I am a home cook who works full time and have been a blogger on my own site, Grumpy's Honeybunch, since 2007. I love to experiment and create in the kitchen. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but always fun! My one place I am not the best at is the grill - and I leave that to Grumpy! Since I started using AR several years ago, my home life has changed a lot. We had to relocate for work purposes, My sons no longer live at home and its just Grumpy, me, and our 3 cats. I am a participant in the Allrecipes Allstar program and have had a great time with the challenges as well as the great people I have met through the Allstar program!
My favorite things to cook
I always was a baker but since I started blogging almost 5 years ago, I have also become a more experienced cook. We love pasta meals and especially Asian inspired meals. I love homemade candy although I'm not the best candy maker, I will still attempt it every so often. My very favorite sweet treat from this site is Brooke's Bombshell Brownies. I've taken the recipe and used it as a base to create several different brownie recipes, my favorite being "when life gets you down" brownie (chock full of Peanut Butter flavor) and a peanut butter caramel swirled brownie. Both recipes are on my blog grumpyshoneybunch.com.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Summer fish frys at my aunt and uncles home. Homemade fudge and popcorn on Saturday nights while a child! When my boys were younger Friday night was homemade pizza and movie night and some of my most special memories are baking cookies with Nanny. I have every one of her "special" cookie recipes on file and when feeling nostalgia hit I will bake one of her recipes.
My cooking triumphs
My best compliment ever - a cheesecake I made was described to be "better than Juniors!" The pumpkin fudge recipe on this site that I reviewed at 5 stars....this is an awesome cooked fudge recipe. My son totally loves the fudge and so do I!
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was first married, I made fudge. It didn't set up and I was too embarrassed to tell my hubby, so I hid it in the closet (no idea WHY I did such a thing!) and ended up forgetting about it. We came across it one day cleaning and I had to fess up, he had more of a laugh because I tried to hide it!
