I recently was accepted into the Allrecipes Allstar Program and one of our first assignments is to make and create recipes using Al Fresco products.  I'm far from a new user of Al Fresco.  I have a few recipes on my blog such as Spaghetti with Sausage and Simple Tomato Sauce, Mango Chipotle… MORE

I've been so good on my diet that I haven't really been making much in the baking department.  Last night I made some of the Mayonnaise Cupcakes for my nephews who I am visiting this week (and supervising!).  That was one of their requests and the other request is the Banana Crumb Muffin… MORE

Yes, this is the hardest thing for me, a baker to do.  Go without carbs.  I love to bake and you can't bake without there being carbs!  However, for the next 2 weeks Grumpy and I are following Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet.  We are on Day 3 and still surviving!  I… MORE

You can have your "brownie" and eat it too.  As long as you eat it in moderation.  After losing over 100 pounds, I have learned that you don't have to have as much as you think you need.  Sure, we all still love to eat and we all love what's not good for us, right?!  However, I have… MORE

After holiday overload of goodies, it is time to start thinking about eating more healthy and doing what I can to help Grumpy eat more "normal" sized portions and still be satisifed!  My first meal of the new year that I cooked - Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy, Mashed Potatoes,… MORE

Its been pretty hot lately.  Much hotter than we normally have around Northern New York.   I knew I did not want to turn the oven on so I found this salad that could sit in as a main dish and I didn't have to cook it.  I was slightly skeptical about the salad because the summer squashes and… MORE

Sometimes you want something good but your body doesn't need it.  Sometimes you still have it anyway and then you regret it.  This won't happen with these donuts!  You can have your cake (donut) and eat it too!  (pun intended!).  While nothing beats a real deep fried cake donut this b MORE

Can a dessert that looks this delicious be good for you?  Sure can!  :)  When it's a Cooking Light recipe it can't hurt.......as long as you don't eat the whole pie! Last June Grumpy and I celebrated our anniversary late.  Both of us let it slip right by us without realizing it.  So, to… MORE

I have never made a sweet treat with fresh herbs before.  The theme this month for the Virtual Supper Club I belong to was "cooking with fresh herbs".  I decided to make a Vanilla Pound Cake with Lemon Basil glaze.  Simple in every way - from making it to, looking at it, to eating… MORE

About Me
I am a home cook who works full time and have been a blogger on my own site, Grumpy's Honeybunch, since 2007. I love to experiment and create in the kitchen. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but always fun! My one place I am not the best at is the grill - and I leave that to Grumpy! Since I started using AR several years ago, my home life has changed a lot. We had to relocate for work purposes, My sons no longer live at home and its just Grumpy, me, and our 3 cats. I am a participant in the Allrecipes Allstar program and have had a great time with the challenges as well as the great people I have met through the Allstar program!
My favorite things to cook
I always was a baker but since I started blogging almost 5 years ago, I have also become a more experienced cook. We love pasta meals and especially Asian inspired meals. I love homemade candy although I'm not the best candy maker, I will still attempt it every so often. My very favorite sweet treat from this site is Brooke's Bombshell Brownies. I've taken the recipe and used it as a base to create several different brownie recipes, my favorite being "when life gets you down" brownie (chock full of Peanut Butter flavor) and a peanut butter caramel swirled brownie. Both recipes are on my blog grumpyshoneybunch.com.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Summer fish frys at my aunt and uncles home. Homemade fudge and popcorn on Saturday nights while a child! When my boys were younger Friday night was homemade pizza and movie night and some of my most special memories are baking cookies with Nanny. I have every one of her "special" cookie recipes on file and when feeling nostalgia hit I will bake one of her recipes.
My cooking triumphs
My best compliment ever - a cheesecake I made was described to be "better than Juniors!" The pumpkin fudge recipe on this site that I reviewed at 5 stars....this is an awesome cooked fudge recipe. My son totally loves the fudge and so do I!
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was first married, I made fudge. It didn't set up and I was too embarrassed to tell my hubby, so I hid it in the closet (no idea WHY I did such a thing!) and ended up forgetting about it. We came across it one day cleaning and I had to fess up, he had more of a laugh because I tried to hide it!
