I have never made a sweet treat with fresh herbs before.  The theme this month for the Virtual Supper Club I belong to was "cooking with fresh herbs".  I decided to make a Vanilla Pound Cake with Lemon Basil glaze.  Simple in every way - from making it to, looking at it, to eating… MORE

This looks a little naked, don't you think? Even naked this is yummy.  I even ate the meat off a spoon right out of the pan (don't tell anyone I did that!).  These yummylicious sloppy joes are courtesy of another blogging buddy of mine.  Grumpy doctors them up with coleslaw and they are MORE

Today I am making the Italian Bread using a bread machine recipe that I found here on Allrecipes.  This is the easiest recipe to make and my entire family loves it.  My daughter-in-law could eat a whole loaf all by herself.  As a matter of fact, the last time we had this and she was here, she… MORE

I thought I would share this with you today as many people will be looking to BBQ over this weekend for Memorial Day gatherings.  While searching on for chicken recipes I came across this recipe for Shoyu Chicken.  It looked too good to pass up!  This recipe has a mixture of sw MORE

While garlic breath may not be pleasant to be around, it sure is enjoyable to eat the food that causes it! I decided to makes something simple - Linguini with Garlic and Oil from Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything book.  Bittman says linguini is traditional but any type of pasta wo MORE

You don't see candy on this blog very often.  That is because I am not really that good at candy making - certainly not because I don't love it!  However, my intense love of all things with fleur de sel and caramel could no longer be ignored.  I had to make these caramels!    Oh yeah. … MORE

Just when I think I know him, Grumpy surprises me.  Like with these scones.  Grumpy won't eat biscuits.  Well, Grumpy prefers to not eat biscuits. So, since these scones are like biscuits I didn't expect him to really like them.  I made the scones, kept one for me, left one at home for… MORE

About Me
I am a home cook who works full time and have been a blogger on my own site, Grumpy's Honeybunch, since 2007. I love to experiment and create in the kitchen. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but always fun! My one place I am not the best at is the grill - and I leave that to Grumpy! Since I started using AR several years ago, my home life has changed a lot. We had to relocate for work purposes, My sons no longer live at home and its just Grumpy, me, and our 3 cats. I am a participant in the Allrecipes Allstar program and have had a great time with the challenges as well as the great people I have met through the Allstar program!
My favorite things to cook
I always was a baker but since I started blogging almost 5 years ago, I have also become a more experienced cook. We love pasta meals and especially Asian inspired meals. I love homemade candy although I'm not the best candy maker, I will still attempt it every so often. My very favorite sweet treat from this site is Brooke's Bombshell Brownies. I've taken the recipe and used it as a base to create several different brownie recipes, my favorite being "when life gets you down" brownie (chock full of Peanut Butter flavor) and a peanut butter caramel swirled brownie. Both recipes are on my blog
My favorite family cooking traditions
Summer fish frys at my aunt and uncles home. Homemade fudge and popcorn on Saturday nights while a child! When my boys were younger Friday night was homemade pizza and movie night and some of my most special memories are baking cookies with Nanny. I have every one of her "special" cookie recipes on file and when feeling nostalgia hit I will bake one of her recipes.
My cooking triumphs
My best compliment ever - a cheesecake I made was described to be "better than Juniors!" The pumpkin fudge recipe on this site that I reviewed at 5 stars....this is an awesome cooked fudge recipe. My son totally loves the fudge and so do I!
My cooking tragedies
Once when I was first married, I made fudge. It didn't set up and I was too embarrassed to tell my hubby, so I hid it in the closet (no idea WHY I did such a thing!) and ended up forgetting about it. We came across it one day cleaning and I had to fess up, he had more of a laugh because I tried to hide it!
