Party Mimosa

Great! I couldn't find Apricot nectar, so I used peach juice. I also added two bottles of champagne to stretch out the servings, and boy, did it pack a punch. It was a huge hit!

Rob's Screaming Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers

My dad's life changed the day I introduced these to his grilling repetoire. Even basic cream cheese, without any additional ingeds. is tasty and irresistable.

Patti's Mussels a la Mariniere

I made this for a large dinner gathering, and my friend from the northern coast of France actually told me that these were the best mussels she's ever had! What a compliment to the recipe, and I can't wait to make it again.

Cream Puffs

too much pudding flavor... I think I might try a lighter filling next time, but the puffs themselves turned out pretty well. I don't remember exactly what I did, but it seems like with pastries, the less handling, the better. Also, I cooked one batch longer than the other, and they turned out crispier and poofier.

Chicken or Turkey Crepes with Tarragon

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
WOW. I actually used turkey sausage instead of chicken or turkey to make these with a more breakfast-y taste, and they were a huge hit! For those pesky eaters who hate eggs in the morning, this was great. I used a heart-healthy crepe recipe and substituted some low-fat margarine for butter, and I don't think anyone noticed. I think if I DON'T make these again, my husband will leave me.

Apple Pie Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
pretty good! I was nervous about the pumpkin flavor taking over, but it didn't seem to. I served this as course one of a 3-course breakfast, and everyone was pleased. Because of the banana, the consistency is more of a sipping smoothie than the kind you might dip a spoon into. Perhaps giving it some time in the freezer would harden it up a bit. Will definitely make again!

Spanish Rice Bake

Meh. aliann11 summed up my opinion of this dish: --- Good base ingredients...but no big whoop in the flavor/presentation department...maybe it's better as a chip dip... --- It was tasty, but not very inspiring.

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Wow. Every single step to this quiche was enjoyable. All they way up to my brunch guests' enjoyment. Thank you for sharing! Hint 1: deep 8 " dishes are a must; two regular pie dishes will NOT contain this quiche recipe Hint 2: letting the quiches sit for more than 5 minutes will help them solidify and make cutting easier.

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
Oh no... I'm sure the soup resulting from this recipe is fine, but by not caramelizing the onions, not pouring the soup over the bread (having been toasted and topped with swiss), using provolone and not swiss, I can't say this is "french" onion soup, but onion soup with thyme.

Surullitos de Maiz (Cornmeal Sticks)

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2008
Yum! Instead of frying I baked, and instead of rolling little cigars I rolled the dough flat and cut fries out using a pizza slicer. This worked fairly well, but I needed quite a bit of flour and cornmeal to aid in handling. I had used this recipe to replicate corn fries from favorite restaurant no longer in business--- they worked just fine. In the future I will add more spices to the dough.

Champagne Punch III

Agreed, definitely worth doubling... it goes quickly. This is a great punch! We've made it for 4-5 events. Even if you use poor "champagne" it still turns out deliciously. It's either this recipe or another non-alcoholic (or both) that we serve at parties.

Barbeque Sauce II

Good sauce- it's a staple in my fridge. I would also use a 1/2 can of cola instead of a whole can to make it thicker. I used it on BBQ burgers and everyone swore they were the best burgers ever! It also keeps very well for a long time

Better Than Sex Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2005
Always a showstopper! This cake is now the favorite birthday cake among our group of friends. One time I eliminated the whipped topping, coated the toffee with dry chocolate milk powder, and sprinkled that with some more powder on top of the fudge for an extra chocolate kick. It tasted great and even looked a little more "up-scale". Delicious!
