About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food, all sorts of pasta recipes, and I love to bake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma makes the best spaghetti and meatballs. I have been cooking that a lot lately to get it just right.
My cooking triumphs
My first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner several years ago.
My cooking tragedies
When I first started cooking I thought oil would bubble like water when you heated it. I remember putting that poor chicken in the frying pan...

Baked Ziti with Sausage
This recipe was sooooo good! I used sausage. I cooked the sausage and then drained it and then ground it up because I don't like the sausage to be chunky. I then returned it to the pan and cooked some sauce into it while I was waiting for the pasta. I made this exactly as the recipe called except I didn't add the onion and I use a little bit more sauce than the recipe called for. This is a keeper!

Pierogi Casserole
Oh my gosh!! This was soooo good. My Dad is Polish and I miss eating pierogis. I saw this and thought I would try it. My husband and I loved this dish! I followed the recipe exactly and it was so good. I did cover the casserole with foil so that the noodles wouldn't get hard. Next time I make this I will probably use another onion and add it to one of the layers and I will probably use one or two more potatoes. I did let my onion caramelize and it was delicious! This definitely wasn't a "quick casserole" though. It took a bit of time.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue
Oh my gosh! This was so good!! My husband said that it tasted like "restaurant quality" barbecue. I made a few changes for what I had on hand. I only used 4 chicken breast halves that were fresh that I cooked on low for about 5 hours. I then shredded and put back in to cook for about an hour more. I used Jack Daniel's original recipe and it was delicious! I also threw in some chopped onion and some molasses. I served with corn on the cob. This will be a regular in my house!
