Hello fellow cooks. My name is Anna Maria. My family owns and operates an Italian Restaurant in Pembroke Pines, FL. I have always loved cooking but I have gotten more into it since my first child was born nearly 9 years ago. I like to cook foods that my family and friends enjoy. To me the best compliment a cook can receive is "can i get the recipe?"
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking all things. Some things I am great at some things I could use more practice. However - some of my favorite types of cooking are: BBQ Soups Stews Salads Appetizers
My favorite family cooking traditions
My FAVORITE family cooking traditions usually take place on a special occasion or holiday. My favorites are: 4th of July: Tangerine-Maple Glazed chicken courtesy of Bobby Flay and my mother's spaghetti pie Halloween: Grave Yard Dirt Cupcakes (family recipe) Thanksgiving: Grandma's Sausage Stuffing (family recipe) and Cranberry Sauce courtesy of Betty Crocker Christmas: Zuppa di pesce (seafood) usually prepared on Christmas Eve.
My cooking triumphs
Meatloaf! Believe it or not....lol. As a child I remember thinking; "Oh no gross! Not meatloaf", when we had to eat it for dinner so I never really made it for my own kids until one day my son requested it after he came home from school (why? no idea) so I found a recipe for meat loaf courtesy of Paula Deen; it was AMAZING!! Certainly nothing like I remember eating as a child. Even my daughter loved it and she is a picky eater. It went over so well in my home that I made another for my parents and my brothers and the reaction from them was equally gratifying.
My cooking tragedies
When I first started out as a cook I remember attempting to make fried chicken for my husband because when he was a kid he had said to me that his grandmother had made the best fried chicken ever. I wanted to surprise him one evening when he got home from work by making her recipe - well he was surprised alright - surprised when he entered the house and saw the smoke and flames shooting from the frying pan. Thankfully I did not burn the house down, however I have yet to attempt fried chicken. :)

Crab-Stuffed Filet Mignon with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce
I made this recipe a few times and each time I make it it gets better and better!! I just made this on Sunday night for dinner and it was soooooo delicious. I am going to try it with lobster the next time.

Fluffy Pancakes
I made this recipe today for breakfast and they were good - however, I did not care for the use of white vinegar because of the after taste the pancakes had. I like this recipe for a base, but next time I will make them with buttermilk or just regular milk. I also added a little vanilla extract for additional flavor.
