About this Cook
I'm a life coach and professional speaker who enjoys great food at home and when I travel.
My favorite things to cook
I am attracted to all types of pasta dishes. I love variety....so trying new combinations of ingredients is great fun for me. I also love to experiment with chicken and fish recipes. Baking all kinds of cookies, muffins, cakes etc also ranks high for me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Although I am not of Polish descent, I grew up in a community that had many Polish families. A favorite dish from my childhood is what we called Pigs in the Blanket or Gawumpki (spelling?) When I was little, I loved the meat filling, but wouldn't eat the blanket (the cabbage), now I love to prepare and eat the whole thing. It is still a favorite for all family gatherings.
My cooking triumphs
A delicously simple dish of salmon wrapped in Phyllo dough. I love anything that is simple, easy to prepare, yet has a great presentation, and great taste.
My cooking tragedies
Pice crust!! Although I love to bake and am generally successful with all types of pastries, pie dough is not one of them. My history goes back 35 years to my first year of marriage, when I tried to make my first pie. My kitchen (and I) were covered with flour after several unsuccessful attempts. It was such a disaster, I haven't tried it since. When I think about that day, I suffer PTCD (post traumatic crust disorder) Crust in a box is a delicious alternative.

Serbian Ground Beef, Veggie, and Potato Bake
This was a delicious recipe that I will add to my "must make again" file. The mix of seasonings added so much flavor, I raved over it long after it was gone. My husband can tend to be fussy about "new things" and he really enjoyed it too. Thanks!

Slow Cooker Pork Cacciatore
This recipe is a keeper. I prepared as directed with exception of using a bit less bell pepper. My guests loved it...this will have a repeat performance in my kitchen.

Broccoli Chicken Divan
This was a deiciously simple dish and a great way to use leftover cooked chicken. Since I didn't have broccoli soup on hand, I substituted cream of mushroom and it worked well. For my taste, I added a bit of garlic powder too. This recipe has earned a place on my "regular" list.
