This is a very tasty basic recipe - however, I did make a few changes, based on personal preference and availability - Other family members do not like oregano, so I reluctantly left it out. I didn't have any celery, so substituted a few shakes of celery seed. I added one fourth cup of minced green bell pepper, which I sauteed along with the onions, in addition to three minced garlic cloves. I also used all chicken broth, but next time I will make sure to have some vegetable broth on hand - sounds good! And, I used two cups of noodles. As other reviewers have mentioned, the prep time was a bit longer than expected, so I am going to chop up my desired vegetables in appropriate amounts and freeze. With leftover or store bought cooked chicken this soup will really be a breeze! - Don't omit the basil, it really adds to the flavor!
