German Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
I'm giving this 5 stars because my husband absolutely loved it. He said "You can make this again any time." Our almost 4 year old seemed to like it too. I personally thought it was very good, but for my taste it needs a little something - maybe some spices added to the sauce or a cheese with a stronger flavor. This is definitely something I'm going to add to the rotation! Thank you for the recipe!

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
House favorite! I have made this about 6 times and it always turns out great. I did change it a little bit - I coated the apples with the cinnamon and sugar mix before layering them in the crisp. We have tried it both ways and prefer it mixed in. We also add another small apple sometimes, and use old fashioned oats. Last time I used 2 small apples, 1 pear, and 1/2 cup or so rhubarb. It was excellent! Great base recipe, easy to make it your own. Thank you Dave!

Such a good use for rhubarb - not too sweet, just perfect. Thank you for the recipe.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
Easy and delicious! I am not a baker and this bread has turned out perfectly all 3 times : ) I use a little bit less sugar to suit my family's tastes. I usually make one loaf and turn the rest into buns. Thank you for the recipe!

Honey-Ginger Grilled Salmon

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
Loved the flavor combinations in this recipe! I used chopped garlic instead of the powder because that is what I had on hand. The salmon was beautifully caramelized and I think the honey helped the green onions and garlic stick to the fish, which was both pretty and delicious. I think if I marinade it for longer next time I might just bump it up to 5 stars. Thank you for the recipe!

Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2014
Made these yesterday. So light and creamy and just the right amount of sweetness! I didn't have nilla wafers on hand or graham crackers so I made a crust of 1/2 cup flour, 3 TBSP's sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 cup of cold butter-tasted like a shortbread cookie and worked wonderfully. We topped them with a homemade peach sauce I had in the cupboard, but they were equally good plain. This recipe is incredibly versatile - I think you could easily customize it for the season and your personal taste. Thanks for sharing!

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2014
We loved our apple butter. I used pretty tart apples and the first time and it turned out great. I also did another batch later in the year when our apples were sweeter and the full amount of sugar which was also very good - I prefer the more tart apples or sweeter apples with a little less sugar, but I think it just depends on your personal taste. Firmer apples need to cook a bit longer it seems, but it also depends on how small you chop the apples. Very good simple recipe!

Really really sweet, but my husband and 3 year old really seemed to enjoy this dish. Too sweet for my taste, but a very interesting recipe.

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
Wonderful recipe! We had some surprise guests show up last night and I needed something for breakfast so I thought I'd give it a try. Tasty, fast, and delicious. The only tweak I made was to substitute in brown sugar in the streusel.

Slow Cooker Barbecue Goose Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2013
Not a bad way to eat goose! A little bland though, I added quite a bit more onion and garlic and Worcestershire , and some more spices, but it still could have used more favor. Thanks for the recipe! This is by far the best recipe I've ever found for goose.
