About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
cheesecake, killer roasts (Beef & Pork) "to-live-for" chocolate cake & brownies, sweet and sour chicken, peanut butter cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both my mother & grandmother were excellent cooks...Family history has it that there were several big restaurants in our home town that tried to recruit my grandma to cook for them!!!
My cooking triumphs
My friend asked me to make Flan (which I had never made before)for a church dessert. I popped on Allrecipes, found 2 well reviewed recipes, whipped 'em up...what a hit!

Amazingly Good Eggnog
I made a small test batch to try as I have wasted alot of ingredients in the past on awful eggnog recipes. Nothing went to waste on this one as it was AWESOME!!!! I made it exactly as directed except I used agave instead of sugar and I skipped the rum because I don't drink alcohol. It tasted great but was a little too sweet and too 'clove'ey...lol..So...next time I will cut the sugar and cut the cloves to suit my families taste. This recipe with alterations is a keeper for us...thanks for the recipe.

French Breakfast Puffs
I liked these...ALOT! This is a very consistant recipe..I have made these twice and both times they turned out the same-DELICIOUS! I made these in regular muffin tins (I didn't have a mini muffin tin) and they filled 12 about half way. I used wheat flour instead of white, butter instead of shortening. I used Muscavado sugar (a whole form of sugar) instead of white and I added cinnamon. These were light and my husband and I both loved them. I had been jonesing for donuts and this is a cross between a sugar-cinnamon cake donut and coffee cake-Awesome recipe!!!Thanks

Cheddar Muffins
I read the reviews and made modifications accordingly. Cooked them at 375 for 22 minutes and added another 1/2 cup milk. I used wheat flour, garlic salt and a special spice I have (minced garlic, minced onion & lemon flakes) and added quite a bit of that. I also added chopped up raw onion (altho I think I would saute those next time) chopped roasted green chili and chopped fresh spinach. Skipped the raisons totally as that didn't sound at all appealing. I will make these again and maybe add some ham, YUMMY!!! Another reviewer had it exactly right..these taste like the cheesy muffins at Red Lobster...great recipe...Thanks... *smile*
