Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Few changes: 1/4 cup sugar, 1/3 cup mayo, 1/3 cup Miracle whip. The dressing seems a bit thick once you add the coleslaw, but an hour in the fridge thins it out perfectly!

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Made this with a few changes: only 1-2 tablespoons of chili powder and doubled the other spices. SO GLAD I cut the chili powder called for. Would have been way too strong! Used the sauce to smother burritos. Yummy!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
I used the recipe for the dressing only. Tossed it with spinach and topped with candied walnuts, cranberries, and mandarins. Tasty!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2009
This was SUPER tasty. My husband LOVED it. I used 2 packets of dressing mix and omitted all added salt. I also shredded it once it was done and then let it sit in the crock for an additional hour on low...PERFECT! Placed the meat on toasted hoagies and topped with provolone cheese, then threw the sandwiches back in the oven to melt the cheese. Will make again for sure...probably on football sunday for the guys!

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This was very good! I was looking for a recipe that compared to taste of the store-bought stuff...fits the bill for me. I added a few things- 1 c. coconut and 2 c. puffed rice cereal. I baked at 300 for 40 minutes, per the suggestion of previous users. It was a bit on the sweet side- perhaps would try without the maple syrup and cut down on the brown sugar and then add some fruit juices (pineapple and apple) to the glaze instead? Thanks for the recipe!

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
Very good! I'd NEVER had GBC before I made this for a potluck the other night and it was all gone after most everyone had seconds. Mods included: mixed 3/4c. of the cheese in with the bean mixture before moving to casserole dish, used only 3/4c. cheese on top, and added about 1c. of french fried onions to top instead of butter/cracker combo. Thanks for the recipe.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
Great recipe...I did make some changes based on the reviews posted before me. I doubled the flour, added thyme, and backed off the amount of basil called for. I also roughly chopped the baked potatoes and then lightly mashed them once added to the soup. I added the bacon to the soup, rather than using as a garnish. Next time, I'll substitute milk for half the amount of half-half. All in all, a great rich and filling soup!

Beef Tenderloin in Creamy Porcini Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2007
Very good. I found 15 minutes was not quite long enough in the oven and my meat was stil quite raw. I went 20 minutes but unless you like your beef still bleeding, I'd go as long as 30minutes for a rare to med-rare piece of beef, depending on how thick your medallions are (mine were about 1 1/2 inches). Thanks for sharing.

T's Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2006
Super good alternative to regular oven fries. I cut mine to about the size of two regular fries. Took about 45 minutes to really get them perfectly crispy, but they were too mushy on the inside. I'll only microwave them for 3 minutes next time and bake them for a full 45 min. Thanks for the great recipe!

Frank's Famous Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2006
All-in-all, a great recipe. I, like the most others, added much more than the "dash" of spices that the recipe called for. I used a can of just regular stewed tomatoes...next time I will use one with no added salt...I ended up having to water down the sauce to relieve some the saltiness and then thicken it up with some no-salt tomato paste. I also added about 1/2 cup of red wine (I had a bottle of cabernet open). Thanks for sharing. Tasty...I'll make this recipe again.

French Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2006
I used this for a cake I made on Valentines. Perfect texture. Flavor was pretty good, just a touch of sweetness...perhaps I'd try adding a bit more sugar next time and use a bit less flour in the flour/cream mixture. This might offset the flour-y taste I detected. But over-all, a recipe I will use again. Thanks!
