Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2014
The Apple Dumplings are to DIE for! This recipe reminds me so much of Apple Pie, but the mini version of it. Since I didn't have cinnamon ice cream, I served the apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. It was a HUGE hit in my household, so I would like to try the pie crust for the Apple Dumplings instead of using cresent dough. Hopefully, it'll taste good!! :-)

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2014
The country gravy was simple to make. Instead of seasoning the gravy with salt and pepper, I used garlic salt, Accent and pepper for more added flavor.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
WOW! These pancakes are AMAZING!! Although I did follow the recipe, I added brown sugar, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla extract to give the pancakes some more sweetness. Instead of cooking the pancakes in some vegetable oil, I substituted butter for move flavor. Also, I served the pancakes with some sausage. It's nice to have a pancake recipe that's simple and easy to make, and honestly, this recipe is placing the boxed pancake mixes to shame!! :-)

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2014
The recipe mentioned that the chicken should be baked in the oven for thirty minutes. My biggest concern was the chicken becoming too dry while baking in the oven. I cooked the chicken in a skillet with some olive oil and garlic, for about fifteen to twenty minutes, and the chicken was moist. Also, I substituted Italian bread crumbs because it had more flavor in it. I served the chicken with Caesar's salad, and I was able to serve dinner within half an hour. I will continue to keep making this recipe, but I will cook the chicken over the stove than to bake it. :-)

Tomato Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
This was my first time making Chicken Parmesan, and honestly, this recipe is AMAZING!! I used Italian bread crumbs for a boost of extra flavor, and I shook the chicken in a Ziploc plastic bag to prevent a mess in the kitchen. Although the recipe calls for Monterey jack cheese, I used a combination of shredded Romano, Fontina, Parmesan and Mozzarella cheese. I served the Chicken Parmesan over a bed of angel hair pasta. This recipe is a HUGE hit at my place, and I want to try to make sandwiches for lunch sometime. :-)

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2013
My sister and I wanted pancakes for breakfast, and I was looking for a recipe that was simple to make. I tweaked the recipe a little bit by adding brown sugar, cinnamon and vanilla to give the pancakes some sweetness. Instead of cooking the pancakes in some vegetable oil, I used butter to give the pancakes that buttery taste. Although the recipe did mention that the pancakes serves four, I was able to make seven pancakes! I served them with bacon. The pancakes was a HUGE hit at my place. :-)

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2013
This is the best snickerdoodle cookie recipe EVER!! Although I did roll the cookie dough into the cinnamon and sugar mixture, I sprinkled the rest on the cookies after it was finished baking in the oven. I'm so glad that I have this recipe saved in the recipe box. :-)

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2013
I had a craving for chocolate chip cookies, so I was looking for a recipe that was simple and doesn't take too long to prepare. I came across this recipe, and honestly, these are the BEST chocolate chip cookies I had ever tasted! Since I didn't want the cookies to taste WAY too sweet, I added 1/2 teaspoon of salt to balance the sweetness. My younger brother had braces and couldn't eat any type of nuts, so I had to split the batter in half and made the chocolate chip cookies without walnuts, and the other with walnuts. The cookies came out perfectly, and my whole entire apartment smelled like chocolate and nuts! I will definitely make these cookies again, but I would like to added chopped pecans instead of walnuts next time. :-)

Sausage Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2013
I LOVE, LOVE LOVE this recipe because I'm a HUGE fan of pasta that has sausage, spinach, tomatoes and plenty of Parmesan cheese! I drained the pasta, cooked down the canned tomatoes, and used half a can of chicken broth. I will make this recipe again, but maybe I could use a quarter cup of broth instead of the whole can, use fresh spinach instead of frozen, and use spicy Italian sausage. :-)

Chocolate Hazelnut Milkshake

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2013
My sister and I wanted some milkshakes, and since we didn't feel like going to Sonics- which is right across the street from my apartment, I came across this recipe. I didn't have the Jiff hazelnut spread, but I did have Nutella. The milkshake was thick, so I added some more milk and ice to thin it out, and that did the trick! I made some homemade whipped cream on top of the milkshakes. The Chocolate Hazelnut Milkshakes are so good, and it was very easy to make.

Kielbasa Fried Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
The Kielbasa Fried Rice is absolutely DELICIOUS!! Instead of buying a head of cabbage and carrots separately, I used a cole slaw mix. I cooked the sausage and onions together because I wanted the sausage to be brown. Since the recipe mentioned that the raw egg should be added to the fried rice, and allow the eggs to scramble, I cooked the eggs in a different pan, and added that to the fried rice. I served it with green onions ontop-along with some egg rolls. Making the fried rice was simple to make, and it's a great way to use leftover rice from the night before.

Delicious Cinnamon Baked Apples

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
I had a taste for baked apples, and I was looking for a recipe that was simple, and NOT complicated to make. Unfortunately, I didn't have vanilla sugar, so I had to use vanilla extract. Since I wanted to give the apples some crunch, I tweaked the recipe a little by adding some toasted walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and sugar, and sprinkled the mixture on top of the baked apples. I served it with vanilla ice cream. My whole entire apartment smelled like apples, and this recipe is a keeper!!! :-)

Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
This is my first time making Salisbury Steak, and honestly, it turned out DELICIOUS!!! Although the recipe called for one cup of mushrooms, I added two cups instead-because I LOVE mushrooms that much!! I served the Salisbury Steak with baked macaroni and cheese, and to me, this recipe is a comfort classic!! It was a huge hit between myself and my sister, and we're always trying to find creative ways to make dinner more interesting. This recipe is one of them.

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2013
My sister is a HUGE fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches myself, but I wanted to try something more unique. Since I didn't have any white bread, I used wheat bread. When I took a bite of the sandwich, the peanut butter was melted-which made the sandwich that good! I made that for my sister, and she LOVES it! I would eat the Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches with a glass of milk. YUMMY!!

Deep Fried French Toast

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2013
I am a HUGE fan of French toast, and honestly, this recipe is different for me, because I have NEVER tried French toast that was deep fried! I tweaked the recipe a little by adding cinnamon, vanilla extract and sugar for a much added sweetness. Since I didn't have any French bread available, I used regular whole wheat bread, and it is SO good!! I would eat the deep fried French toast for dessert, instead of having it for breakfast.

Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2013
I LOVE tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches because not only is it food that can stick to your ribs, but it's comfort food that can warm you up. Instead of using water, I used milk to give the soup a rich and creamy taste and sprinkled with some grated Parmesan cheese on top (I LOVE cheese!!). It's a great recipe that's simple and scrumptious!!!!!!
