Buttery Soft Pretzels

I added 5 TB vital wheat gluten (usual instructions are 1 TB gluten for every 1 c flour) to add to the chewy, stretchy texture I wanted to achieve. They were just phenomenal! I'll be making a bigger batch for an Oktoberfest block party!

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Simply THE BEST veggie burger recipe. They have a distinctly Mexican flavor, which I love. These bad boys are even robust enough to stand up to grilling, a claim most veggie burgers cannot make.

Yummy! Added a little bit of salt, to taste, some freshly ground black pepper, and cut WAY back on the olive oil - 2 TB was definitely sufficient.

Double-Cheese Eggs Benedict

I hate to give this less than 5 stars (no 4.75, allrecipes?), but with the addition of a little garlic powder and black pepper, the cheese sauce was OUTTA SIGHT! Big props to the excellent description of how to poach an egg - I had never done it before, but all of mine turned out very well. Thanks for the contribution!

Yumba! I followed the letter to a T with the exception of substituting margarine for shortening. I made 6 dozen of these for a cookie swap and folks are going to LOVE them.

Brunch Scones

Very tasty, but the batter was a little too moist, which resulted in scones that were rather airy. I prefer a slightly denser scone, so I will use 2 c flour and perhaps 1/2 tsp less baking powder next time.

Raspberry Coconut Layer Bars

This was good, but not great. The combination of chocolate and raspberry is A+, but I think the base could be improved upon. Next time I make this, I will make a lemon or lime pie base by mixing fruit juice in with the sweetened condensed milk so that there are interesting flavors in the base rather than a boring, overwhelming sweetness.

Vanilla Ice Cream VII

A bit on the eggy side, but this is quite tasty. I don't know if it's because mine boiled in the 10 seconds that I left it unattended, but it was not as creamy as I would have liked - the crystals were a bit large. I will make it again and change my review if it improves without boiling.
