Baron's Blackberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
I got a flat of blackberries at the farmer's mrkt. today and decided to make this. It was good and very easy. I made it as written and my only change next time will be to add about 2 more cups of berries. I had the 6 cups (just barely) so I added a few raspberries I had on hand. For me the ratio of cobbler topping to berries was a little off, I prefer more berries to topping. Other than that I loved this, easy and can feed a crowd. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
I made this recipe and one that uses cream cheese and did a side by side comparison of them. My husband and I both agree that this recipe was far superior in both taste and how well it held the cutter shapes. Nice and soft, but not too soft and tasted even better with frosting to decorate. I liked that they are not too sweet plain, so when I added the frosting it didn't over power them and made them taste even better. If you are not using frosting they would need a good dose of sugar sprinkled on them for sure as the plain cookie isn't too sweet, but as I said that's what I liked as I always frost my cut out cookies.

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2010
Loved love loved the flavor! But they spread and you coudn't tell what the shape was supposed to be. Maybe they got too warm prior to baking I don't know, but I ended up just making them into circles after the first batch because they spread so much they looked like ginger bread mutents or aliens not boys! I still recommend the recipe though because of the great flavor, not so overpowering like a lot of gingerbread recipes.

Easy Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
I was a little afraid due to some of the negative reviews, but I went ahead and tried the recipe and I think it was great! It was a little weird to have the ham soaking in all that apple cider, but it turned out juicy and succulent. I used an almost 6 LB sprial cut already cooked ham and did not use any spices (personal preference) and honey instead of syrup and I used less than the amount of brown sugar and syrup(honey) called for. I cooked it for 7 hours and it was almost falling apart but not quite and it was really good. Nice to come home to part of the meal all done on a work night, thanks for the recipe! I don't understand how anyone could have ended up with a dry ham using this recipe like some reviewers complained of? For me it was easy and tasted great, just what I want on a work night!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2010
Re: the last reviewer statement I have to disagree. Some of us have special diets for health reasons and mine doesn't allow much fat so yes, using pork tenderloin does make sense, it is way lower in fat than the shoulder. I enjoyed this recipe and used my own homemade BBQ sauce after draining the meat. Put the meat on buns, topped with good homemade low fat coleslaw, it was great and low enough in fat for me to be able to enjoy it with everyone else. So yes, tenderloin is more expensive, but it is also healthier for those who need to think about fat content. If you want a healthier version of pulled pork I recommend this recipe.

Cheese Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
These were very good. I made them to accompany my annual new years eve dinner party menu and I was happy with the results. I liked how they look like cresents but taste just like biscuits should taste. For me these are special occaision once in a while only because they are high in fat, but they do taste great.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
I brought this in for a potluck at work today. Everyone said they loved it and there wasn't a bit left in crockpot so I guess they really did! This was super easy for a work pot luck, I just cooked it overnight and let it cool in the morning as I was getting ready. It was easy to shred it with a fork, put my own homemade BBQ sauce on it, take it to work and reheat it in the crockpot. Thanks Sarge! It's a keeper! :)

I really enjoy this recipe. For something so simple, quick, and easy it's really tasty! We like to have it with the Margarita on the rocks recipe from this site as well.

Margaritas on the Rocks

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2005
I made these on a friday night after my husband and I both had a long hard week at our jobs. What a great way to unwind! I made a batch of these and a mexican meal and it was just as good as being at one of our favorite mexican restaurant/bar! The only change I will make is to reduce the tequila just a tad because the recipe as written is really strong! Thanks for the excellant recipe Carol.

Raspberry Trifle

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2005
I have made this a few times and it is great. The only change I make is to put good quality semi-sweet chocolate shavings in the layers and not use any cocoa powder. Then I put lots of big chocoate curls on top of the whipped cream that tops the trifle, it looks really nice, and the chocolate with the raspberry is sublime!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2005
I don't know what all the fuss is about. I found these cookies to be a bit bland, not really sweet enough, and the texture is odd. It could just be a personal preferece though, my co-workers seemed to really like them so I'll give three stars for that reason. Sorry.

KEEBLER® READY CRUST® Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2004
I have been makinig this pie for years, since the recipe first came out. We love it! I have never been a fan of pumpkin pie, but I love this pie! The reviewers who said it was runny etc. must have done something wrong, maybe added too much pumpkin? I have never had a problem with this pie turning out, and eveyone always raves about it and asks for the recipe.

Chicken Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2004
This was very good considering it uses frozen veges and pre-made crust! I used cream of chicken soup instead of celery, and used 2 cans, not 1 and 1/2. Good quick weekday recipe.

Sorry, but I found this to be extremely bland as written. I had to add alot of spices, onions and extra chives to get any flavor out of it.

Scandinavian Almond Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2004
I've been making these for years and they are the best! They are my standard Holiday cookie, and everyone always asks for them. Taste and look like you slaved away, but they are pretty simple. The recipe also doubles well, which is important because otherwise my husband eats so many I don't have enough to give away!!

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2004
I have to say I was very skeptical about this recipe. I always bake eveything from scratch, and usually find no bake recipes to be lacking in flavor. But I took a chance and boy am I glad I did! Wonderful flavor and consistancy for a no-bake dessert! My husband and co-workers loved it, and so did I. Thanks for sharing cathy.
