Broccoli Chicken Casserole IV

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I used this recipe as a base and kind of did my own thing with it. I subbed cheddar for the jack, aded a good bit of garlic and onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and italian seasoning. I cooked the chicken and broccoli before mixing everything together and also added about a cup of pre-cooked brown rice. It still seemed soupy after I added the rice, so I added one beaten egg to the mixture as I would have done for a typical broccoli casserole. Lastly, I topped it with a small layer of cheese and one sleeve of ritz crackers that I crushed and mixed with 3 tbsp of butter. Three stars. Good base recipe but needs a good bit of tweaking!

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
The recipe is good as is. If you really want to kick it up a couple of notches I recommend adding chili seasoned tomatoes instead of plain, a couple dashes of worcestershire, a couple cans of beans, some corn and half a bottle of good beer.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies IV

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
These were great with the changes I made. I used 1/2 cup of butter instead of the shortening, raw sugar instead of white, 1 cup whole wheat flour and 3/4 white flour, 2 tsp. vanilla, 2 whole eggs, 2 TBSP creamy peanut butter, and an extra half cup of oatmeal.

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
These were pretty good. I used brown rice instead of white and half ground turkey and half turkey sausage for the filling. I also added more onion, three cloves of garlic, a bit more worcestershire and doubled the sauce. I left off star because I think this would have been pretty bland without the changes I made and also I can't imagine making this without doubling the sauce.

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
This was very good. My husbandwent back for thirds! I used turkey breakfast sausage and 10 eggs in a 9x13 dish and It was great. I am curious what it would have been like if I had used the 6 eggs the recipe called for...hmm?

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2010
I've made this recipe twice now and it is very good. The only negative I can say is that I feel like I have to increase the amount of spices slightly to add more flavor. Also, as some others mentioned, I did decrease the amount of liquid to about 4 cups and wish I had decreased it a bit further but that is just personal preference.

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
This was very good and relatively easy to make. Everyone loved it. The only change I made was to mix the spinach and the ricotta before assembling. The sauce recipe does make alot. It was very good but I might cut back on the sauce just a little next time, just my preference.

Valentino's Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
This was ok. To me, the taste was kind of off and the pizza didn't seem to get done all the way in the center. I would recommend pre-baking thecrust for a few minutes before adding your toppings or better yet use rapid rise yeat in place of the regular kind.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

These cookies are great! Mine did come out a little flat but that's because my baking soda is no good. The taste was excellent though. I did adjust the temp to 375.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This was amazing! I made it for a baby shower and everyone wanted the recipe. I used apricot jam and black raspberry jam, fuji apples, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and pears. I didn't add any sugar as this was plenty sweet after the addition of the jam. I didn't have time to make the chips so I served this with cinnamon sugar pita chips and it was great.

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
These are great cookies. I used turbinado in place of white sugar and that gave these a really special flavor and crunch on the outside. The only this is that i wish they didn't flatten out quite as much. I wish they would have been a little thicker.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
These cookies were great! They had a realy great flavor. However, my reasons for giving them 4 stars are A. I used less than half the butter and shortening called for in the recipe and these were still plenty soft and chewy and delicious. B. Next time I will cut back the salt to 1/2 tsp. The cookies have a sit of a salty after-taste. With or without the suggested changes, I strongly suggest you give this cookie a try.

Snickerdoodles III

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
These cookies were very good. The only thing is that my first batch didn't spread very well and were very puffy and thick. On the second batch, I remedied this by just flattening them slighty with the back of a spatula before putting them in the oven. The flavor is very good more like a sugar cookie than a snickerdoodle. I will definitely add cinnamon to the batter next time to get more of a snickerdoodle taste. The consistency of the cookie is a little crispy on the outside and rather thick and cake-like in the middle. Overall a great cookie.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
These cookies are amazing!! My husband and I couldn't stop eating them. The only change I made was using all but about 1/4 c. of the flour mixture to keep these soft and moist and also took them out of the oven when the edges were just beginning to set but the middle still looked underdone. The cookies are still soft, moist and chewy today.

Smothered Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2004
it was very good after I made a few adjustments. I agree with other reviewers when i say that the recipes as is, is a little bland. I added half a cup of dry red wine in place of the water, seasoned the chops with salt and pepper prior to browning, used worcestershire in place of the browning sauce, added a bay leaf to chops when simmering, and some chopped fresh parsley. Great base recipe!
