Soft Sugar Cookies IV
About this Cook
I love to cook and am always in the kitchen trying new recipes and whipping up meals and desserts for my family. We eat at home almost every night. It's a rare occurence that we eat out and we wouldn't have it any other way. I like having control of what goes in my food and knowing where it came from. I especially love hosting parties and any opportunity I have to cook for others.
My favorite things to cook
Pastas, Meats, and Desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always love getting together in the kitchen with my mother and sister during the holidays. It's crazy, loud, and we're all trying to do three (or more) things at once, but it's so much fun. I am also looking forward to my daughters and I creating our own cooking tradtitions.
My cooking triumphs
My first ever was probably sweet potato pie when I was a teenager. I took my Aunt's recipe and added a little of this and a little of that and it turned out really well. It's still requested at family gatherings.
My cooking tragedies
I made a jambalaya when I was pregnant. It was so incredibly spicy that my husband couldn't eat it. No amount of sour cream or cheese could help so we threw it out. He still likes to remind me of this blunder from time to time.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole IV
I used this recipe as a base and kind of did my own thing with it. I subbed cheddar for the jack, aded a good bit of garlic and onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and italian seasoning. I cooked the chicken and broccoli before mixing everything together and also added about a cup of pre-cooked brown rice. It still seemed soupy after I added the rice, so I added one beaten egg to the mixture as I would have done for a typical broccoli casserole. Lastly, I topped it with a small layer of cheese and one sleeve of ritz crackers that I crushed and mixed with 3 tbsp of butter. Three stars. Good base recipe but needs a good bit of tweaking!

Terrific Turkey Chili
The recipe is good as is. If you really want to kick it up a couple of notches I recommend adding chili seasoned tomatoes instead of plain, a couple dashes of worcestershire, a couple cans of beans, some corn and half a bottle of good beer.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies IV
These were great with the changes I made. I used 1/2 cup of butter instead of the shortening, raw sugar instead of white, 1 cup whole wheat flour and 3/4 white flour, 2 tsp. vanilla, 2 whole eggs, 2 TBSP creamy peanut butter, and an extra half cup of oatmeal.
