Zucchini Souffle

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
Very yummy. Was out of onion, so I subbed a yellow pepper and 3 green onions. It was a hit with everyone (1, 3, 5 & parents!).

Dark Carrot Raisin Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
Really not a fan. First time I've made something with a 4 star rating that turned out to not be so good. I didn't have whole wheat flour, so I used all white, maybe this was the difference? But I found them spongy and hard to get cooked all the way through. They looked nice coming out of the oven (though I don't know where the "dark" is supposed to come from), but as soon as they started cooling they completely shrank. Kids like them though.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
I did let this rise for awhile, but other than that followed the original recipe. Was simple, tasty, and for those that want to do more - makes a great jumping off point in terms of adding spices, etc. Good basic pizza dough. Thanks!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

O. M. G.!!!! So very yummy! Great recipe. I will respectfully disagree with the poster who said the glaze just needs to be sugar and milk, I think the melted butter in the glaze is part of what makes these so tasty.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
SO YUMMY! I just used margarine as I wasn't looking for a true shortbread at the time, but I whipped it for awhile and it was so melt in your mouth delicious.

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
YUM!!! So good. I followed the reviewer suggestion to first whip the butter for about 5 mins, then add the dry by 1/2 cup measures, whipping for 2 minutes after each, and then a full 10 minutes after the last addition. I made them pretty small as I expected them to be delicate and baked them about 10 mins @ 350. They are delicate, melt-in-your-mouth, DELICIOUS!

Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Awesome!!! Used fresh scallops and shrimp, but canned clams and crab & skipped the calamari. Full of big yummy chunks, full of flavour. A big hit with my family - including my 1.5 yr old and 3.5 yr old.

Asian Chicken Noodle Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Very tasty - was a hit with my 16 month old and 3 year old even. Just dry toasted the seeds and noodles without the butter. Put lime juice instead of lemon juice as I had the bottled stuff. Other than that, stuck to the recipe and enjoyed it.

Cottage Pudding - Upside Down Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
This is so yummy. I doubled the brown sugar and butter topping (and used 5 smallish granny smiths to finish them up) and only put 1/2 cup white sugar in the batter - per other reviewers - and it turned out excellent.

Oatmeal and Applesauce Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
I found these bland and hard to get cooked all the way through, you really have to cook them low and slow (even then it's tough). My 16 month old usually loves pancakes and wouldn't eat them.

Marbled Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
Got an almost identical recipe from Kraft. The only changes were that the filling called for 3 eight ounce packages of cream cheese instead of two and added a dash of ground cloves to the other seasonings. YUM! This is excellent, very easy to make. Just watch your baking times - I only baked mine for 39 minutes, and was surprised to find it done already.

Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
Fabulous recipe -- if you make some of the changes suggested by the other reviewers. Toss apples (I used 6 cups in a Tenderflake deep dish crust.) Toss them with the 1/4 c flour, half brown and half white sugar, and a half tsp of nutmeg along with the cinnamon. For the topping, I used brown sugar and added some cinnamon and nutmeg. Baked for an hour at 350 - make sure you check so that the topping doesn't burn. I have a really old oven in the place we are living right now, and couldn't put the pie on the oven floor, but cooked it on the lowest rack possible for the entire cooking time and the crust turned out fine. Got rave reviews!

California Style Quesadillas

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
I wish there were half stars, I would give this three and a half. It's good, but not anything to really rave about. It definitely needs the fruit salsa to make the dish. Having said that, both my boys (aged 3 and 1) ate it right up! The peppers in the cheese mixture don't add too much heat - or really even flavour. If you wanted more of that, I would recommend increasing the peppers.

Shrimp and Peanut Butter Noodles

This is a great dish. Made some changes just due to necessity - I couldn't fine udon noodles or black vinegar in my grocery store. I used angel hair pasta and red chinese vinegar, and it turned out just great. A big hit in my house!
