Boiling Water Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2012
I am not an expert at crusts by any means. It's the one cooking/baking area that I am pretty weak in. This recipe is amazing once you get the method of handling this dough. I use it exclusively with the Chicken Pot Pie IX found on this site. The result is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't change a thing about the recipe, it is fine as is. If you are using it immediately after mixing, be prepared to use more flour when you roll it out.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

I've made this recipe multiple times for large gatherings. It is perfect as is. I recommend using the Boiling Water Pastry Crust on this site as the crust. I also did a vegetarian version adding sweet potatoes in place of chicken, vegetable stock instead of chicken stock, and soy milk for regular milk. It worked amazingly well.

Best Bruschetta Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2005
I have to be honest, I didn't even get to taste this...I made it for a party of 70 and put it out...by the time I turned around, it was all wiped out so I'm guessing everyone loved it. I cut French bread into rounds, brushed with olive oil, and toasted in oven for 10 mins at 350. Bruschetta was added right before serving.

Sizzling Chicken Skewers

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2005
I must say that I had my doubts when I read all the ingredients in that marinade. My marinade came out very thick...almost like a paste. The taste, though, was amazing. I didn't bother putting them on the skewers since I was doing it for a party of 70 and didn't have enough time. I did chop up green peppers and sprinkled them on top before broilling. Excellent recipe and would definitely serve again!

Ruby Red Layered Salad

Wonderful salad. I love the blend of flavors and ingredients. I thought the sour cream was a bit weird as an ingredient but it worked quite well.

Angel Whispers

Well I cant say I was very impresssed with these. As was mentioned above, cookies were very very dry. They tasted like a bad version of a sugar cookie. The filling didnt work either..was way too thin even after much effort. We substituted the icing in the whoopie pie which we were making at the same time for the above icing and it was so much better.

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
Ok, I put some of the sauce into my rollup before I baked them. I also added some diced green pepper and onion for flavor. They came out horrid. The crescent dough didn't rise that much and no matter how long I cooked them , they still ended up a bit doughy on the inside. ( I think I went about 18 mins on the cook time). They were edible but not something I would keep in the recipe file.

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
A very simple and easy recipe yet very tasty. I used a boxed focaccia bread mix from the $1 store instead of the crescent roll dough. The puffiness of the focaccia made it better I think. The normal price of the focaccia was $4 which I bought for $1. The crescent dough was $2.79. I did end up using the crescent rolls for another recipe and I must say I wasn't impressed with the results.

Potato Salad I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
I just used this for a college social party. I made one recipe and it was absolutely huge. I couldn't even mix it in one bowl bec it was so big. I had to add more mayonnaise to make it work....I'm not sure if the relish made it more watery at first or if I didn't drain the potatos enough. I would say that I had upwards of 22 servings. My fiance really liked it. He thought it looked strange bec I diced the potatos rather fine . It was easier to serve and eat with smaller potato cubes. Mariza

Sweet and Crunchy Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2005
Hi! I just made this for a big party social for a bunch of college students. Everyone who had the salad loved it and it was extremely simple to make. I did make some changes though...I think it needed more crunch (noodles overwhelmed it a bit) so I added a half a head of cabbage. I also didn't have white wine vinegar and used red vinegar instead. And I didn't have the sesame seeds so did without. Recipe still worked fine. Dressing was amazing. I would actually say that the recipe makes more like 12-14 servings.
