Poppy Seed Chicken II

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
I gave this recipe 5 stars because it is delicious, AND my family likes it as well, so that is always a plus when trying to find new ideas for dinner. I also gave it 5 stars for its simplicity. I purchased a rotisserie chicken which already has a lot of flavor built in. I also mixed the chicken and sauce ingredients, including the poppy seeds, in one bowl (there's really no need to layer the sauce on top of the chicken). I did increase the quantity of poppy seeds to 2 tablespoons. For measuring purposes, one sleeve of crackers (ritz or townhouse) equals a 1/2 cup.

These onion rings are AMAZING. I made them for my family; hubbysaid they were the best he ever had. My daughter, who isn't overly fond of onion rings, went back for seconds!

This was simply AMAZING!! I made this for Valentine's Day dinner and you would have thought I walked on water - LOL. This sauce, already made with wonderful filet mignons, was just fabulous.

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
I've beenmaking this recipe now for many years and my entire family loves them. The only change I make is to replace half of the sour cream with Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing; this just adds a little something extra!

Southern Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2010
This is an absolutely AMAZING recipe. This is even better than what our "famous" BBQ restaurant serves! I skipped the browning of the meat as I don't see that it adds anything more to the end product. And I also don't use all the water that is recommended. I place the cut meat, rubbed with the spices, in the slow cooker, then following the recipe directions. When the meat is done I hand pull the meat apart, put it back in the slow cooker and then add bbq sauce and let it cook a little longer until it's nice and hot. I served this with "Down Home Baked Beans" from this site. Those beans are also amazing!! My husband is a firefighter and he brought this in for dinner one night and the boys went wild over it and they keep on asking for it.

Down Home Baked Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
These baked beans are AMAZING. We had a BBQ dinner and served these baked beans along with Southern Pulled Pork (also from this site...and highly recommend as well). The dinner was fabulous and everybody went back for seconds on the beans. After reading reviewer comments, the problem with the "soupy" beans is because most people used Bush's Baked Beans. Although Bush's Baked Beans are great on their own directly from the can, the consistency of Bush's is already semi-soupy, (which is why some reviewers “drained” their beans first) so by adding all the ingredients listed, your end result is very soupy. Also Bush's beans are already flavored so by adding the sugar called for in the recipe makes for a really sweet bean recipe. To avoid all this, you need to use Grandma Browns Baked Beans for the beans called for in this recipe. Grandma Browns Beans are VERY thick (you need a spoon to get them out of the can) and are generally not sweet on their own. Then following the recipe exactly as stated, the beans turned out perfectly! Oh – I did add a good squirt of yellow mustard, but that is the only change I made. I thought a pound of bacon was going to be too much, but it really was not - the recipe is just perfect!
