Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
I thought these were good, but my husband and two young boys (3 & 5) absolutely LOVED them. I did not think either of my kids would eat a whole pork chop, but they gobbled them up. We even used 1-inch thick chops! The only thing we did differently was to just marinate them in the sauce for about six hours, and then put them on the grill and discard the sauce. I love it when my men--big and little alike--love their dinner. This one was a hit! Thank you for the recipe!

Baklava

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2007
This was awesome! I didn't find the directions very clear about the last several layers. I'm assuming you do not need the entire 16 oz. package of dough, and when you run out of nuts you just repeat a few layers of dough only, just like on the bottom. That's what I did, and it was phenomenal. Other reviewers recommended making extra sauce, but I found the original recipe to be plenty. Otherwise it would have been too sweet. This was so good, and it's definitely going in my recipe collection.

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
We make this salad regularly. Occasionally I will add shredded chicken in order to make it a main dish. We usually leave out the peppers and green onions, only because we don't usually have them on hand. However, even without them, this salad is phenomenal, and I love that it's so healthy. You can decrease the oil slightly if you're afraid of fat grams. I endorse this recipe heartily.

Banana Chip Muffins II

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
These were awesome! I followed the recipe exactly and I was very impressed. I do have to say they're better freshly baked, but nothing a few seconds in the microwave couldn't solve. Also, I don't think it needs the cinnamon, but that's a personal preference thing. I will make these as often as I have brown bananas.

Vegetarian Refried Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2007
I made these today and they were excellent. I did leave the tomato out and I cut the oil in half, but they were still fantastic. I also pureed the entire mixture. I will use it for a seven layer dip and to make quesadillas. I'm really excited to have a great recipe in my collection. I will use it all the time!

Chocolate and Almond Biscotti

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2007
The end result of these was excellent. However, I added 3 or 4 tablespoons of water to the dough to get it together. I don't carry whiskey at my house either, so I left it out. The only other minor change I made was a substitution of dried cranberries for the chocolate chips. Consequently, I didn't have any problems with the chocolate smearing, and the cookies were beautiful in the end. They taste delicious, and I wish I could give it another 1/2 star because this is a pretty authentic recipe.

Orange Almond Biscotti II

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2007
I'm giving this 5 stars because they turned out awesome, although I did make a couple of modifications. I added almost an extra 1/4 cup flour. I also left out the orange zest and dumped in a little extra almond extract. I love that flavor. They were very hard and crunchy, as biscotti generally are, but they were amazing dipped in a cold glass of milk. I will definitely canonize this recipe into my collection.

We Be Jammin' Jamaican Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
I think this bread is very good. However, my husband doesn't like it, so I think it's a matter of preference. This is the same recipe that appeared in Cooking Light magazine several years ago. I have also swapped the butter and cream cheese for a good old stick of butter, and it's good. I crave this bread from time to time, especially in the summer when I need something lighter tasting.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
OK. This doesn't need another rating, but it really was fantastic. Served it over dessert crepes, then used it on waffles with whipped cream. Very simple in its divinity.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2006
My husband and I thought this bread tasted a lot like the peasant bread at Romano's Macaroni Grill--minus the oil and rock salt. It was excellent. We're so excited to add this recipe to our collection and use it over and over. Whatta gem!

Chicken Breasts with Balsamic Vinegar and Garlic

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2004
I tried this dish as a special Father's Day meal for my husband and myself. I was a little nervous serving it to him because he's a really great cook, but he died and went to heaven on the first bite. The whole meal I kept hearing, "Wow, this is so good." He announced to me at the end that it was his new favorite meal that I make. Well done recipe, I'd say. It was easy, but I felt like a gourmet chef.
