Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
I received about 10 marriage proposals off of this recipe. It's fantastic. The crust alone will make so many good spin-offs.

Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
Very good. Icing is a bit "weak," so refrigeration is a must so that it doesn't slide and sag slightly, but the cake is delicious!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
phenomenal! make plenty of chips--at least twice what the recipe calls for. The salsa itself would be fabulous in a pie...

I look for any excuse to make this. It's just incredible. Great brunch item--just make lots so you can have a huge portion!

Chinese Steamed Buns

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
Very nice recipe. I followed other reviewer's advice and added some baking soda and used warm milk instead of water. I wasn't even that fastidious while making them (I let the yeast proof an extra 30 minutes while I went to buy more flour), and they turned out great. You don't have to be an expert to get good results!

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
This was really good. I was worried because rice gets so hard when you let it sit but it softened right up. Very tasty. Next time I think I will add some more veggies. I also used vegetable broth to cook the rice in instead of water.

Grilled Salmon Skewers

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2007
This is a great recipe that has impressed everyone I made it for. I have yet to use salmon because I'm not a big fan, but it works great with halibut. Very easy and really tasty.

Crawfish Etouffee

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
I felt the flavor was lacking. Everything needs to be upped in order to get past the taste of the crawfish. Nice presentation and the rest of the family thought it was good!

Honey Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2007
I was really pleased with this recipe. I thought the sauce was a nice consistency--however I did follow other recs to up the honey, garlic, soy, and added fresh giner. Served over brown rice cooked in veggie stock. I think this sauce will be a great marinade to use in other ways.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2007
So far so good! 2nd batch baking right this second. Easy recipe. I used butter instead of margarine and went with a whole teaspoon of cinammon. Mine flattened a bit more than I wanted, but not too flat, they are still soft and chewy. Nice recipe, some ginger cookies are too spicy for me but this is nice and sweet.

Pumpkin Gingerbread

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2007
Tastes really good...but I had some issues. First, it's a lot less bread-y and more cakey than I expected or wanted. I know there's a fine line between pumpkin bread and cake to begin with, but this was really cakey. Second, it's been in the oven for about an hour and 20 minutes and the center is still mush. I am cooking one loaf, and make muffins out of the leftover batter (which is how I know it tastes great). Even the muffins took about 25 minutes, and we're not talking jumbo sized. I also didn't have allspice, so threw in extra cinammon, some cloves, and nutmeg. I think a 9x5 pan may be a little large, which is causing my cooking problems.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Too sweet for my taste. Meatloaf itself was good but didn't care for the topping.

Just a little bland in my opinion. Does NOT make good leftovers. Everything dries out.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Not bad but not too flavorful. Tastes better as leftovers once the "sauce" has thickened in the fridge overnight.

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
This is a great recipe. I didn't have vanilla, but had some vanilla sugar, so I used that on top of the cookies. Couldn't really even taste that I left out vanilla in the mix. For the best soft cookies, don't cook more than 8 minutes!

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
3 stars because I didn't like it very much, but the rest of my family went bonkers over it. I mixed it with raw shrimp in a Ziploc bag and froze them for a couple weeks. By the time we grilled them they were VERY flavorful and marinated!

Orange Chicken Stir Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
Hate to be the opposition here but I didn't like this at all. Too orangey sweet, which may be the point, not sure, but not my taste. I've made a lot of orange juice based recipes and this one was one of the lesser.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Not the best fish I've ever had by far. Seems like most of the positive reviews are based on changes made to the recipe. Just ok if made exactly as instructed.
