Apple Walnut Bread

I had to log in this morning to rate this because it is SO GOOD. It's got an amazing crust on all sides--nice and crackly. I used 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar, and probably more apples because I have so many to use up, but other than that stuck to the recipe. So good.

Autumn Cheesecake

Not my favorite. Definitely double the filling, as I ended up with about an inch-tall cheesecake when baked in a normal springform pan. The apples got pretty dry on top as well.

Red Garlic Mashed Potatoes

These got rave reviews at Christmas from everyone--didn't have enough to make sure everyone had as much as they wanted! These were really, really good. I used minced garlic from a jar instead of crushed, but that's the only change I made.

Venison Chili

I think this is pretty good! I have not had a full serving yet, but have been sampling all evening. I didn't make any changes except for the fact that my chicken broth was already seasoned with oregano and rosemary. I was a bit worried with all the red wine, as I'm not a huge wine drinker, and the chili was sooo red, but it tastes great. I also used ground venison.

Cinnamon Pecan Braids

I am about to sit here and eat a whole loaf of this by myself! This is sooo good. A bit time consuming, but worth it for 4 of these. I doubled the filling recipe as well, and while I had some leftover I can't imagine having enough filling with the current recipe.

Easy Slow Cooker Meatballs

I made these following the recipe, except using 2 lbs of meat and upping the ingredients to accommodate. The taste was good, but I am not sure I like the texture that slowcooking brings to the meatballs. It's hard to describe, but they were almost grainy. Reminded me of chef boyardee meatballs.

They smell excellent, and are easy to make. I only had a little taste, what with the beach coming up and all, but my 17 month old daughter ate 3 and I had to draw the line at 4. Now THAT'S a compliment.

Clone of a Cinnabon

I could eat a bowl of this frosting alone! I love these, they are easy to make, and great to eat. My only complaint is that the cooking time is still up in the air. They look to be too brown on top and are still gooey (in a bad way) on the bottom. I have yet to perfect temp/time.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

These brownies came out very cake-like, despite other reviews. If you really want fudgy, rich brownies, you have to use real chocolate. I was out, so tried these in a pinch, and was a little disappointed.

Fairly bland with the exception of the chocolate chips in every bite. Not a bad "healthy" vehicle for delivering chocolate chips to my mouth, but could have more flavor.

Sourdough Bread I

Yay, it worked! I used this same contributor's sourdough starter and I am so happy it worked! I prefer this sourdough to the flour starter, because it doesn't get quite as sour or crusty. This bread makes THE BEST GRILLED CHEESE EVER.

No Bake Cookies V

Very easy and pretty tasty too! I followed everyone's suggestion to make sure I let the pot come to a definite, rolling boil and had all my ingredients already measured out to throw in. Not the most attractive cookies, but taste good especially warm and gooey.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Very good!! Definitely the best luck I've had so far with homemade "Southern" biscuits. I used butter instead of shortening as well, and meant to try buttermilk like another reviewer suggested but forgot. I also made them the night before I cooked them. I cooked at 400 degrees because 425 seemed asking for burnt bottoms in my oven. I can't say that they are the biggest biscuits in the world, but they were good. Mine didn't rise as high as the ones pictured. I also doubled the recipe successfully.

Whole Wheat and Honey Pizza Dough

This is a standard in our house, and it's very good. In my experience it has a tendency to puff up while baking, so make sure it's thin on the pan unless you want deep dish!
