I love to bake bread of all kinds, especially sweet bread recipes like banana bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandma baked cakes for as long as I could remember. Now that she's in heaven, when I bake a cake I always think of her. She would have been proud of me.
My cooking triumphs
I love mimicking recipes that I first experience in a restaurant, like Olive Garden's Chicken Gnocchi Soup.
My cooking tragedies
I can only think of one tragic incident and it was when my bread machine bit the dust with a full recipes worth of apple cinnamon oatmeal bread inside. I had to dump the whole batch! Oh, and I once burned a can of Campbell's tomato soup on the stove when I was in high school. But we won't even go there.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread
This was a BIG hit at our house! I did substitute maple and brown sugar oatmeal packets (it was all I had in the cupboard) and it was delicious. I made two smaller loaves out of one recipe and at 40 minutes, they were perfect. I also added one teaspoon of ground allspice. It smells like fall! So hard not to cut into it when it was piping hot. The kids loved it, even when I made a whole wheat version. I will make this again.
