About this Cook
Hello, My name is Nikki, and I'm an extremely busy mom of three. I also am a live in caretaker (with my 3 kids and husband) for my mother. So, besides crafts, I have been experimenting with cooking, baking, flavor combinations, and more. I'm trying to mostly come up with delicious to the adults, but edible to the children - meals. Oiy!
My favorite things to cook
Jumbalaya Blondies Fajitas Cakes of all sorts Brownies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Although I've never been a huge pie fan, my family makes an excellent "secret recipe!" apple pie. I've recently found out it's really not so secret, but my mother as aforementioned is getting more and more elderly, and is convinced she's the only one who has it. Regardless, it's delicous... and again, I really don't care for pie! LOL!
My cooking triumphs
I can't name any in specific, but basically I define triumph as "My 4 year old, middle daughter, will eat it!"
My cooking tragedies
Thankfully now that I've moved back home, I've gotten a new stove. It's such a horrible reference, but at my last apartment we had a gas on gas stove/oven/heater/monster cooker. Anything I baked was a tragedy. The knob was constantly falling off, so there was no degrees, and it didn't fit back on properly either, so nowhere for me to even begin marking it for even a slight benchmark of the temperature. Oven thermometers were great, except .... for some reason, I could get the oven to the temperature I wanted, wait 15/20 minutes, ensure that it stayed at that temperature, place my baking in, and a few minutes later peek through the slightly lit door, only to find it had again skyrocketed to temperatures Broil would be jealous of. I nick named it, "Satan's Oven."
