Spicy Cheese Quick Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2014
Keeper! Mmmmm! Several of us were in the kitchen when this came out of the oven, and this loaf didn't last long. Everyone who tried it (even those who don't care for spicy foods) enjoyed this to the fullest. Thanks so much for sharing! :)

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2014
Honestly, I was surprised that I liked this as much as I did. I have never been a BIG fan of honey/mustard combinations, but I tried this because dh and I are dieting, and we needed something different to keep us motivated. I used dijon mustard because it was all I had on hand. Everyone in the house raved about how good this was. I liked the way the sauce looked when I mixed it up. I only used half of the sauce. (Saving the other half for another night.) I did allow the chicken to sit with the sauce on it for about an hour in the fridge before I baked it. It was tender, flavorful, and something I'm sure I'll make again. Also, my newlywed son is always asking for good, easy recipes. I'll pass this along to him and his new bride. Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

Perfect Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2014
Never having searched for a recipe for it, making lemon curd seemed intimidating. I located this recipe and made it for a bridal shower. It was simple enough to make, and it was a hit! I'll never buy it again. Great recipe! Thanks.

Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2014
To be perfectly honest, this is one of my favorite recipes to make. Definitely a change from the regular pancake sort of thing. We serve this with maple syrup and some bacon on the side. Marvelous! If you have kids, gather them around the oven door window for some fun as this Dutch baby changes from one interesting form to another. (In fact, any men in the house will enjoy the show just as much!) Thanks, Barbara, for sharing your great-grandmother's recipe with all of us. My family has thoroughly enjoyed it many, many times since we first came across your recipe. Excellent recipe to keep and to share!

Dump Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
Delicious as it is. I didn't change a thing except that I reduced the bake time because it appeared to be baking a bit too quickly when baked in a glass dish. I must admit that I was concerned about the amount of sugar, but when it was baked it didn't taste overly sweet. This is one of the best recipes in my collection now, and I've been baking for over 40 years. Oh, and one other thing---this cake tastes so good and was so well loved by my family that I had to give it another name. It's just too special to call a Dump Cake! :)

Chicken a la King I

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2014
Absolutely loved it! My picky adult son devoured his and gave great compliments on it. Everyone thought it was very good. I substituted celery for the bell pepper, and we served this over puff pastry. Will definitely make again. Thanks for sharing a super recipe!

Loved this recipe as it is. Makes a bunch, and they cook quickly. My daughter has always loved crab rangoon from the local Chinese restaurant, and I made these as a surprise when she was coming home for a visit. They were a hit! Thanks for sharing.

Angela's Awesome Enchiladas

The name says it all: AWESOME! My husband hates homemade Mexican food, but he loved this recipe! I had a guest drop in at supper time, and she enjoyed this as well. Everyone had seconds, and it made wonderful leftovers, too. THANKS for sharing a real keeper!

Banana Walnut Ice Cream

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2013
My first attempt with this recipe, and it turned out wonderfully! Took it to a church picnic, and there were no left overs! Consistency was perfect, and the flavor was just right. I used three bananas, and didn't have any walnuts, so used pecans. Got several compliments. The process was time-consuming, but results were well worth the trouble. Thanks for sharing!

Peach Wrinkle

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
Like another review, the name of this recipe is what drew me to it. Just had to make it. I had just a small bowl full of diced peaches left after a day of canning, so I was looking for something to help me use those up. I halved this recipe, baked it in a pie plate for 25 minutes, and it is beautiful, and also very good! It's not really a cobbler, so there is not all the juice in the bottom of the pan. If you prefer something more like that, the ice cream idea mentioned by other reviewers sounds like a plan to me! This is not overly sweet, and there are no competing flavors. Just a simple, classic comfort food recipe. This one's a keeper! Thanks for sharing!

Apple Oatmeal Crisp

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
I always love recipes that were "handed down by grandma!" This was a wonderful recipe for anyone like myself who loves oatmeal with apples. I do plan to make this again, but I will bake a little longer than the 45 minutes recommended. The sugar in the topping remained a bit grainy on my first attempt, and I think a longer baking time would remedy that. As some of the other reviewers stated, using a little less sugar is an option. Simply a matter of preference. Thanks, Dave, for sharing this keeper! Enjoyed it.

Flank Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
This recipe was simple enough, and it was flavorful. I had no flank steak, so I used the chuck steak I had on hand. As another reviewer stated, I also sprinkled the steak with Paula Deen's house blend. Followed all the other directions to the letter, and it was delicious. DH and I had this for our Valentine's Day dinner, and it was as good as anything you could get at a restaurant. The meat was tender, and the mushrooms w/ the garlic and rosemary were wonderful. Smelled fantastic while it was cooking. I will definitely make this again. Something I would absolutely serve for company.

Peach Cobbler I

This recipe was WONDERFUL! I regularly make peach cobbler, but this was my first time using fresh peaches. The recipe was flawless and needed no tweaking at all. Cook time was right on target. My family devoured it after supper! No leftovers! Thanks for sharing.

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2012
Wish I had had this recipe years ago! A great meal for family, but one that would also be very well received by guests. I only had four chicken breasts to use, so I cut down the stuffing to one cup and the butter to 2 Tbsp. After melting the butter, I just stirred it into the stuffing for more thorough coverage before sprinkling over the chicken. This recipe was absolutely delicious served over rice. My husband of 27 years is slow to try new things, but he raved about this. Glad I found something new he really likes!

Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2011
A wonderful, easy, classic recipe! There are a few variations. Try adding finely chopped onions and bell pepper if you want a bit of a change occasionally. I keep zip lock bags full of these, uncooked, in the freezer all the time. Great for unexpected company! Freeze balls (not touching each other) on cookie sheets, and then transfer to bags. I write the cook time and temp on the outside of the bag so I don't have to hunt down the recipe when I'm in a hurry.
