About this Cook
I was one of those 4-h kids with a mother who encouraged us to do gardening & cooking. I chose the sweet goods route(of course)and also was also able to auction off one of my breads my senior year. Since that time I kind of stopped cooking and am just getting back into it. I am more interested in taking a traditional recipe and thinking up new ways to create it and mix the flavors into something new.

Pecan Pie Bars I
I did not care for this recipe. The creamy part did not set after 25 mins nor an additional 25 mins and by then it looked burned. So i baked it for nearly an hour and even the crust seemed doughy. After the additional cook time I let it cool for 2 hours and when i cut into it, the top part seemed partially set but the bottom just above the crust was all liquid! :(

Caramel Shortbread Squares
The caramel is too hard to easily bite into. It would be better to define the heat of the boil or less heat + shorter time = softer caramel! As following instructions "bring to a boil" apparently does not mean high heat. Just a slight boil probably would have been better(6-7) But since this wasn't defined well many people from looking at the reviews after, had the same problem! (HARD caramel not "chewy".) Cutting them into tiny pieces and letting them dissolve in your mouth works, but with the shortbread you want to chew, and you just can't. Refine the caramel recipe and these would be great! As for the chocolate chips you can't microwave it too long after the initial one minute or it will turn clumpy + crumbly rather the liquid smooth.
