Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
Wonderful recipe. I use half the cabbage and the let it sit for twenty four hours, for the flavors to mix. Prior to serving I take the unused cabbage, soak it in ice water for half an hour then after draining it I put it in the spinner to dry it out. Then I fold it all together, and serve. This gives you the Flavor, and the crunchiness. Nector of the gods.

Turkey Veggie Meatloaf Cups

I promise that I will stop thinking bad about ground turkey as a beef substitute. This is the third recipe, from this site, that I've tried, and once again it was an out of the park home-run. I am sure we might play with this recipe in the future, but we followed it as written and all I can say is WHO KNEW??? This was just wonderful.

Jeannie's Famous Potato Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2005
What a wonderful flavor. After reading some reviews about not being able to get the potatoes fully cooked, I just boiled them before slicing them. (brought them to a boil, turned them off and covered them for ten minutes, then I bathed them in cold water, till I was ready to slice them) The result was a slightly under cooked potato that finished off nicely in the casserole. It turned out great. The next day I put the left overs in an augratin dish over a bed of frozen peas. I added a tbls of heavy cream to the peas, and topped it all with a little more cheese. Again great result.

Insane Oven Beef Ribs

I enjoyed this recipe, very much. My wife is still laughing, over having earlier read a review, from someone who after changing this recipe by substituting short ribs to long, and the wine to beer, (90% of they recipe volume) said they were unhappy by this recipe.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
The first time I made this I followed this recipe exactly, except for draining liquid from the canned beans. The second time I added an extra can of beans, (red Kidney). I like the Chili/Soup consistancy, so I kept the same amount of broth. This is a great Base recipe, and everyone can adjust the seasonings and/or ingredients to fit their indiviual taste. I will be having fun, cooking, and playing around with this recipe, for years to come.

This is a great standard recipe. The key for this sandwich is the quality of the ingredients. (Home Grown Tomatoes). My favorite BLT sandwich came from a restaurant up in Carmel, ca. I found out that they notched it up with a very thin layer of peanut butter, on one slice of the bread, and between the lettuce and tomatoes, they added thinly sliced Maui onion. Since I am not a peanut butter fan, I can't believe how much I love this sandwich. But I do.

Wonderful. I left out the pickle relish, and doubled up on the tuna, and celery. I always use frozen peas, since since they are thawed by serving time. I also added sugar, and lawry's seasoning salt, to my liking. Served on a bed of lettuce and this can be served as a main entre.

Thank you Joslyn. As you said in your post, it's best to make this ahead of time to let the flavors blend. This is a wonderful recipe, and the seasonings can be ajusted to fit your individual palates. Love the recipe.

Spareribs and Kraut

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
Nice basic recipe. browned the ribs in the oven, drained off the fat, then put them in a slow cooker. To the kraut I drained only half the liquid, shredded a small apple, and medium potato. I tossed this together with a tablespoon of caraway seeds, and placed this mixture in and around the ribs, cooked them on low for six hrs. The end result, was a falling off the bone, flavorful meal. I served these with twice backed potatoes.

Garlic Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
We just came into the heart of our corn season, so I thought i'd give this a try. After reading the (most helpful) part of the reviews, I decided to follow Jillians advice which produced the most delicious sweetcorn imaginable. Thank you Jillian. Nothing beats fresh picked sweet corn, properly soaked in water, and then roasted on the grill in it's own husk. If it's soaked long enough, the inside kernels of corn get steamed not burned. I also love the fact that you can use the (pulled back) husk as a handle, for eating.
