About this Cook
I love to cook! I tend to bake when I get bored at home and love to try new recipes. I'm always looking for top rated recipes and am trying to start my own family cook book with my familys best recipes.
My favorite things to cook
I tend to make alot of cookies, bars and breads. I also love trying new ideas for dinners, we get sick of the same stuff all the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't know that we have alot of traditions in my family, I do learn alot of cooking from my dad and I'd have to say I've outcooked his chili, spagetti and split pea soup.
My cooking triumphs
I've made baked alaska and fried ice cream. I don't know that you'd call it a triumph but I think being able to keep ice cream frozen while baking/frying it is quite a skill.
My cooking tragedies
The second time I used yeast I learned that I killed it after 3 hrs of baking puula. I then learned how to "proof" it and haven't messed up since.

Croissant and Salmon Breakfast Casserole
This was just alright, I think it just needs a sauce, maybe hollandaise?

Quick Poached Salmon with Dill Mustard Sauce
I was suprized at how much I like this, usually I like my salmon on the dryer side, but the texture wasn't smooshy like I thought it was going to be. The sauce was a nice addition of flavor to go with a fish that didn't have much flavor. My only change was using greek yogurt instead of regular, makes me wonder if it would have tasted even better..

Hoagie Dip
This was pretty good, I had a large amount of salami and didn't know what to do with it all, I found this recipe and thought I would give it a shot, I'm glad I did! I followed the advice from others and added some balsamic vinegar and I added a couple tsp of olive oil. It tasted just like a hoagie!
