A Little Country Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2014
This was fantastic! I have never bought or used shortening so I subbed vegetable oil. Made in a bundt pan and just did a glaze on top. It's so good it doesn't need frosting but I am sure it would be delicious frosted as well. I see myself making this often in the fall!

Traditional Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2014
This was great! Subbed oregano for thyme, just not a big fan, but otherwise followed the recipe as written. Right after cooking I thought it had a tad too much cumin and thought about cutting it a bit next time. However, after eating the leftovers for lunch today, it's absolutely perfect! I would suggest making this the day before you plan to eat it just to let the flavors blend. Will definitely make again. Very good!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
This is awesome! This and the chicken wing dip are the two appetizers I am always asked to make. I do also add more jalapenos but that is all a matter of taste. Have also tried the half parm half panko bread crumb topping and I prefer that to just parm. Very good thanks for sharing this easy and wonderful recipe!

'Chinese Buffet' Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
Very tasty! I only got a few thought cuz my husband ate the whole pan! I minced the garlic instead of slicing, otherwise used all ingredients and measurements the same. Next time I will try it with low sodium soy just because it was a tiny bit salty.

Alabi Potato Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
I am giving this recipe 4 stars based on the assumption that the mustard amount is a misprint. I really liked this recipe but i also love love love pickles. If you don't, you may find the pickle taste a bit overwhelming and want to try a lesser amount and add to taste.

Pasta With Peanut Sauce

This was my first time trying anything with peanut sauce and this was a nice introduction. I added one clove of minced garlic. The sauce was pretty thick, next time I would add a bit more broth.

Chinese Chicken Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
Normally I wouldn't review a recipe I changed so much but I hope my changes will help someone else, because this recipe really has a great foundation of flavor, the quantities just needed some tweaking for me! Ok, only had 1 very large chicken breast to use up, used 6 boullion cubes to 8 cups water, doubled ginger and garlic, used 2 tablespoons soy, left sesame oil the same. For the vegetables I used 1 large can baby corn, 8 oz can water chestnuts, cup of broccoli florets, cup shredded cabbage, 1/2 red pepper, 5 green onions, 1 medium zucchini and a small can of mushrooms. Some sprinkling of salt and pepper after simmering for a while and it was really delicious! Even my husband ate a big bowl and he hates soup.

Oh my word this was good. I used a little less nutmeg (don't care for the taste) and it was absolutely delicious. Exactly what I was looking for, this will be my go to recipe for classic apple pie!
