Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
On a previous occasions, I have made this recipe the way it was written and it was moist and delicious, but was trying to be a little healthier this time and use other ingredients I had on hand. I doubled the recipe and used 1/2 all purpose flour and 1/2 whole wheat flour, I only used 1 1/4 c sugar for the double batch, instead of 2 full cups, but used about 8 extra ripe bananas which made up for the lack of the extra sugar and made it more moist, and to give it a little more of a healthy boost, I added some flax seed. I also used half low fat sour cream and half regular fat (because I had some regular that needed to be used) I think the bread turned out just as good as the original recipe and a tiny bit healthier.

Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2012
Made the recipes as written, except I reduced the salt and pepper in the batter down to 1 tsp each. This was a decent beer batter recipe, but both my husband and I felt the paprika took over the flavor and it was just a wee bit too much. Will make again, but will cut the paprika down to 1 tsp as well.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
This was so delicious!!!! I added one more banana than the recipe called for and cut the sugar down to 2 cups and the bread is just the right amount of sweetness.

Ron's Bread Machine White

Reviewed: May 31, 2009
I made this bread exactly as written. I thought my other bread machine recipe was good, and it is, but this is GREAT! The bread was so soft and delicious! We ate almost the entire loaf with dinner tonight. This will be a regular recipe that I will use all the time.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2008
This was very delicious on my baby back ribs. I can't wait to use it on chicken. I had to add a little extra brown sugar for sweetness because I only had about 1/4 c of molasses, but this was excellent.

Grandma's Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
I found this while looking for a way to use up some tomato juice I had in the fridge. This was super delicious and super easy to make. My 12 year old son made this soup, with a little help from me. Even my husband, who doesn't like tomato based things, liked it enough to have seconds. My only modification was to add a can of chopped tomatoes because I didn't have a full 64 ounces of tomato juice. We will make this often.

Waikiki Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2008
The taste was okay, but the texture was kind of crumbly for my family's liking. Sorry, I won't be trying this recipie again.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
If I could give this recipie more stars, I would. The entire family loved this bread. My husband wants me to make more. I followed the recipie to the letter and the result was a large, tall loaf that had a crunchy crust on the outside and was soft on the inside (just like a loaf of fresh-baked french bread). I will definitely make this over and over.

London Broil I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
Sauce was a little on the salty side for our tastes, but will make again, and next timew ill either use low-sodium soy sauce or cut it back to 1/4 c and substitute rice vinegar or some other liquid. The mixture does a good job of tenderizing the meat, though. Even my very picky son actually ate some of the meat, so it is definitely a keeper recipie.

Chewiest Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2006
Taste was okay, but a little on the bitter side; not chocolately enough for me. Not suited for our tastes, but does live up to its name of being chewy.

All-Purpose Rub for Meat

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
Recipie turned out really good. I also felt 4 Tbsp of salt may be too much, so just used 3 tsp and the meat I put it on turned out very good. (I used beef roast, by the way).

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
I liked this dish, but will leave out the orange juice the next time I make it. The orange juice seemed to dominate it and didn't compliment it the way I had hoped, but other than that, still a good recipie.

Leftover Turkey Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2005
This is one of those recipies that you can interchange the ingredients as you wish for the desired taste. I followed the recipie as it was listed, with the exception that I used cut green beans instead of french and chicken thighs instead of turkey. It turned out tasty, but, as others reported, was a little salty, but by tweaking the ingredient list, that can be changed. I can see substituting the green beans with broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, or whatever veggies you may have on hand and even going meatless by adding extra veggies in the meat layer. Bacon bits and cheese may also add additional flavor and texture. It's definitely a recipie you can make many times and different variations each time.
