Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
Instead of topping with the parmesan I used a little of the cheddar cheese that the recipe called for. Otherwise, I find dishes like this become too salty and rich. Big hit.

Used linguine, cut veg. oil to 1/3 c., didn't use cilantro, added some carrot for color.

Thought this sounded exactly like something a coworker made. My attempt was disappointing.

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
I always use a pound of sausage. Sometimes use half & half and skim milk, have tried all different flavors of sausage (maple, sage, spicy). Serve over Pillsbury Grands with sunnyside eggs. Crowd pleaser every time.

Almond Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
These have become one of my "go to" recipes when I want to take something sweet for a morning event. Wonderful with a cup of coffee. Takes closer to 40 minutes to bake in my oven.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Ended up baking and tossing much longer than the recipe called for--I wanted to make sure it was completely dry. Made great Christmas gifts in tins. My grandpa told me I was responsible for him gaining five pounds this holiday season, and my husband was sad I didn't make enough for us to keep.

Carrot Soup

I went looking for a way to use up a load of carrots we had left from our CSA and found a winner! This recipe was so easy, tasted great, even my picky son enjoyed this.

Fluffy Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
Easier to make than you would expect and yummy! I used half butter and half shortening, as others suggested. I did notice a bitter after taste, but I think that's because I was a little too generous with the baking powder--figuring bigger is better.

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Mmmmm. Had lots of kale from our summer CSA to use up and this was a hit. The kale shrinks quite a bit so it's a great way to use it, but do tear small so that it's not such a mess to get into your mouth. Big hit with my husband.

Delish. Used a ton of my CSA broccoli in this soup. Turned out great and froze well--just thawed a container last week and it was fantastic.

Flavor was great, but it was a runny, sticky mess to eat.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Followed Jersey Tomato's review and notes. Turned out wonderfully. I ended up not finishing my dinner portion so I packed it up for lunch the next day thinking the bread might be soggy and gross--was even better leftover!
