Sweet Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
A little too sweet for my taste... and it makes a VERY large batch. I'd 1/2 it if I make it again for a family dinner. Perfect size for a party though.

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
My husband told me this was the best ham he's ever had... it seems too simple to be as good as it is - but it's wonderful.

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
Gave this recipe to a girlfriend to try and she didn't take the time to "marinate" the carrots and the sugar and it turned out awful... so ALWAYS take the time!!! :) This is a wonderful cake recipe. MUCH better than any box. Well worth the time it takes.

Veggie Pizza

Amazing and simple - a great combo of ingredients. I make the cream cheese "base" the day before so it has a chance to combine flavors overnight. YUMMY!!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
My family loves this chicken! I have altered the recipe quite a bit though - I put the chicken breasts in frozen to save myself some time and do not add the cream cheese at the end. I cook it on low in the crock pot for 8 hours, then shred the chicken after I get home from work and serve it on hamburger buns.

Cafeteria Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2007
The consistency wasn't what I thought it was going to be - too stringy and not creamy enough. I think velveeta would be helpful in this dish... it was very bland for my family's taste. Each of us only took the spoonfull we were served and didn't go back for more. I think I'll try a different recipe from this site next time.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
Overall this was a great dip - but next time I make it I'm going to exchange the garlic salt for garlic powder or just put in a clove of real garlic b/c we thought the dip was way too salty.

Pear Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
This is an incredible usage of pears!!!!! We have TWO pear trees in our backyard... I'm using up quite a few. Today alone I made 17 loaves and froze them for some winter day! Yum. Co-workers raved and wanted the recipe. This is now in my "favorite" section of my recipe box. Thank you for this wonderful recipe!

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
Overall decent taste - although I agree with others in stating it was too "tomato-y"... I also had a problem with getting the rice to turn out. The rice on the bottom was done and the rice on the top was crunchy. Ended up adding about 2 cups of water at 90 mintues and baking for an additional 30. If I make it again I think I'll cook the rice ahead of time and only add it at the very end. Also, I don't thing I'll mess around with the ham and chicken... I'll probably just use 2x's the shrimp and sausage.

Basic Fondue

This is the grossest fondue! I mistakingly made it for a recent dinner party with friends... we all tried it, then I threw it out and made something else. Won't try again.

Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
The only suggestion I have to this great recipe is once you've finished baking it in the oven, scoop it out of the pan and let it cool on waxed paper. My batch was glued to the bottom of the pan! I had to re-warm it to get it to let go. Very yummy!!!!

Mrs. Strong's Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2006
Another note about this one - I mixed a small container of cottage cheese, the cream cheese it calls for, the sour cream it calls for and added both parmesan cheese and mozarella cheese. I also added 1 can (15oz) crushed tomatoes to the meat mixture. I also mixed EVERYTHING together (the meat mix when it's fully cooked, the cheese combo and the noodles) - I think it "melds" the flavors better - two picky kids (7 and 10) in our house LOVED this... Next I'm going to experiment on ways to cut down on the fat. Awesome recipe!

Chicken Tortilla Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
Awesome! My husband LOVES Mexican... and this was a hit. He doesn't like cilantro though - but you could easily change that out with green onion, fresh parsley or chives. The only thing I did to change it was to add a little velveeta (4-6 oz) and I put in almost 2 cups of salsa vs the 1 the recipe calls for. A HUGE hit. :)

Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2004
This is the first cheesecake I've ever made -- it was very easy to make, and very yummy. Next time I make it, I will bake it a little longer though - the 1 hour 15 min cook time I think was a little off. Lots of smiles from this one!!!
