Linda's Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
Best lasagna!! I HATE cottage cheese but LOVE it in this recipe!! I've tried ricotta cheese also and didn't like the texture of it. I like the creamy texture from blending the cottage cheese. Also, I prepared this the night before. I pulled it out of the fridge and put it in the preheated oven and baked 40 mins covered with foil and 20 mins uncovered.

The Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
This is the best banana bread I have made! I did half white sugar and half brown sugar, I used 4 bananas, added 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp vanilla. I used 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup all purpose flour. I also sprayed my bread pan with Pam and then coated it in sugar. SO good!!!

Tasty Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
The ONLY way to eat green beans!!! The changes I made was I only added 1 TBS butter and I don't boil the beans before hand. I melt my butter and minced garlic and onion then add my frozen green beans, let those cook for a few minutes, then I add the rest. I have made these over and over!!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
This really is a great lasagna recipe! I didn't add the fennel seeds. And next time I will use already cooked lasagna noodles. I used the oven ready and I thought they could have cooked a little longer. I also use the sauce recipe for spaghetti sauce.

Puppy Chow II

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
LOVE Puppy Chow!!! The changes I made: keep buter at 1 stick, increase chocolate chips and peanut butter to 1 1/2 cups and I used A LOT more powdered sugar. I don't know how much I used, I just poured until I liked how the cereal was coated.

Pretzel Salad II

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
I LOVE this salad!! With trial and error, I've gotten the steps down. This is what works for me, make sure you "seal" around the edges of your baking dish with the cream cheese mixture. So when you pour the jello part on, the pretzels won't get soggy. Also, once the cream cheese layer is on make sure it is room temp before pouring the jello part on. Mine jello was still a little hot when I poured it onto the cream cheese part that I had just taking out of the fridge and the hot jello cracked the cream cheese layer and seeped into the pretzels.

Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
My first time making Chex Mix! I like making it instead of buying it! I doubled the seasoning for one batch of chex mix. I always thought home made chex mix was VERY bland, but doubling the seasonings turned out MUCH better!!

Cinnamon Griddle Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
I thought these were really good and my family enjoyed them also, but I thought they were a little dry. I did leave out the corn syrup, maybe next time I will replace the corn syrup with honey. But overall, we enjoyed them and I will make them again. Also I might try adding a little cream cheese to the icing recipe!

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
This is one of the best slow cooker meals I have made! I didn't add the mushrooms, because I hate them, but I did add 1 1/2 cups of frozen peas 30 mins before it was done cooking. This is one meal my whole family enjoys! I make it often!

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
I just made these this morning! They were very good! I put in a little less than 1/2 tsp of nutmeg. I also coated mine in powdered sugar, vanilla glaze and a chocolate glaze. We all like the vanilla glaze best! Here is the recipe I used for my vanilla glaze 2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 TBS milk 1 TBS butter, softened Put that into a bowl and mix together. I added more milk, but I didn't measure. I just got it to the consistancy I liked. Once I mixed it, I poured have of the glaze into another bowl and added 1 TBS cocoa powder and mixed. Then I dipped the muffins in the glazes and let dry. I double dipped them. Then on the vanilla glaze ones, I dipped some of the tops in the chocolate glaze. Also, glaze them once they have cooled. If you don't wait, they will fall apart.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
Made this last night! It was SO good! I've never had a Salisbury Steak before. I did make some changes from reading the reviews. I added some garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture. Instead of bread crumbs I used Panko, that's what I had on hand. I doubled the gravy except I only put in 1/8 cup of ketchup. I don't think it had the ketchup taste that others were complaining of. I will make this again soon!

Cake Batter Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2009
This ice cream is SO yummy! It was the perfect creaminess! Not too thick! I thought the cake batter taste wasn't too strong, you could maybe add a litte more, but I thought it was good as it. The only difference I did was use vanilla bean paste in place of the vanilla extract. I do that with all my homemade ice cream. This recipe is for sure a keeper that I will make again and again!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

I love that this recipe makes its own gravy! Instead of water I use beef broth and I did 1 can cream of mushroom and 1 can cream of celery. I don't like mushrooms, but this is pretty tasty!

Chocolate Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 5, 2009
These are SO good!! I did make some changes due to ingredients I had on hand. I used butter, b/c I never use margarine. I did 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar. I did a heaping 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. I did half sour cream and half FF vanilla yogurt b/c that's all I had. I also added 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tsp salt. I also added 1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips. I baked these in a mini muffin tin for 13 mins. I used my little cookie scoop to fill muffin tins. They are SO yummy! I will be making this often!

Chicken with Green Peppers in Black Bean Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
This tastes just like the one I had in England! So YUMMY! I didn't add the salt. I added water chestnuts, pea pods, and zucchini. I added most of the corn starch mix, but I did it a little at a time. I will be making this again VERY soon!

Peppermint Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
I'm giving this 4 stars because I used this recipe as a base... I did a layer of dark chocolate. When I pounded my candy canes, some of the candy cane became a fine powder. So I sifted that out from the chunks and sprinkled it on the dark choco layer. Then I put it in the freezer while I melted the white choco. Once that melted I added 1/8 tsp of peppermint extrace then poured the white choco over the dark choco and then sprinkled the candy cane chunks. I froze it again for a couple hours. I melted the choco in my double boiler. SO YUMMY!!!

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
This frosting has a good flavor but I didn't like the consistency. I was looking for a fudgy frosting and this one is more of a whipped frosting. I think I'll keep looking...
