Strawberries and Cream Bread Pudding

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
This was very yummy and easy. I let it sit in the fridge for 20 minutes to give the bread a chance to soak up the custard. I also added cinnamon and nutmeg...good choices. Cut back on the sugar 1/4 cup or so if you are using very sweet preserves.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2002
This cake is quickly becoming a family favorite. It is light and sweet, and the glaze is so buttery and wonderful....YUMMY!! The glaze IS rather runny, but it is soooo good I use every bit of it. :)

Baklava

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2002
I never made Baklava before using this recipe. I have made it three times (baby shower, wedding shower and birthday), and I always get complimented. Everyone says it is the best Baklava they have ever had (one woman who said that is from New York and said she's tried Baklava from all the ethnic bakeries!) This is a fabulously easy recipe. The hardest thing about making it is cutting it before baking. It is rather time consuming, however. It takes me about two hours all together, since you have to make the sauce while it's baking. But if you want to make an impression, this will do it. Thank you, Donna. This recipe is sublime!

Asparagus Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2002
I made these for my friend's baby shower. They turned out pretty well and I got a lot of compliments. They are a little time-consuming to put together, but not inordinately, and are otherwise simple and easy. I used shallots in the mayonaise mixture instead of regular onion. I am making them again for my sister's wedding shower next month, and I think I will use fresh, steamed asparagus. There's nothing better than fresh asparagus, and canned can be just too mushy. Most kids wouldn't go anywhere near these.

Red, White and Blue Mold

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2002
I made this with my son (5) today to eat as a patriotic dessert while watching the Olympics. It was really pretty and very yummy. He really enjoyed helping with the stirring, and creating the layers fascinated him. It does take some time to prepare and then to set, but it is very easy and well worth the work.

Egg-Free Dairy-Free Nut-Free Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2002
I made this as a snack for my friend whose daughters have egg allergies. I couldn't believe how quick, easy and tasty this was!! Both girls seemed to like it, and we adults really liked it. It was very light and nice and chocolatey (I did use Ghiradelli choc chips). The center did puff up, and it was well done at the minimum cook time in my oven, so I would suggest checking the cake maybe after 25 minutes so you don't over do it.

Butterscotch Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2001
These cookies are fantastic!!! I wanted to try something a little different from the same boring sugar or gingerbread cookie, and I came across this recipe. The butterscotch morsels take these over the edge! I have to give them away as quickly as I make them or I will eat them all myself. I have only made a few batches, but they have quickly become one of my family's favorite.

Kisses Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2001
This pie is fantastic and so easy to make. My friends crave it and constantly ask me for the recipe or to make for events. I've used regular graham cracker crust and the Keebler Hershey's chocolate crust. Both are magnificent!

Apricot Chicken I

Reviewed: May 20, 2001
Yummy and easy. Good for split breasts too. DEVHATH: Try substituting French dressing. It's just as good, easy to find, and it's how my friend makes this recipe.

Quick Chicken Divan

Reviewed: May 11, 2001
This recipe is terrific! I served this last night and everyone enjoyed it, even my picky children. My 4 year old, who hates anything saucy, especially creamy sauces, gobbled it up saying how much he liked this sauce, and my 22 mo. old, who refuses to eat any kind of vegetable, was packing away the broccoli. The only thing I changed was I used 1 lb. fresh steamed broccoli. I even used the 98% fat free soups and it was still delicious. This is going to be a regular at our house. Thanks, Shannon!!!

Apricot Brisket

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2001
This is really good and easy. I only had a three pound brisket, but I used the recipe the same anyway (but reduced the cooking time a little). My son loved the meat and even the gravy too.

Artichoke Bites I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2001
I do love artichokes and cheese, and I really enjoyed this recipe! I personally think it is better warm. I was out of garlic, so I sprinkled some garlic salt into the mix before putting it in the baking pan. I also sprinkled some parmesan cheese.

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2001
I agree with the others: you really must double the recipe. It's so good a single batch isn't enough. I added chopped turkey kielbasa for my son, but it's great even without the meat!

Southwestern Haystacks

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2000
This recipe is easily modified to suit your mood or tastes. Following the other reviewers' suggestions, I used a packet of taco seasoning instead of the spices the recipe calls for. I also added onion and some chopped red pepper to the meat while browning. I used ground turkey instead of beef, and a can of black beans, drained and rinsed, instead of the red. I thought it could use some color, so I then added some chopped green pepper I had in my freezer. Finally, I served it over white rice instead of macaroni. My husband wrapped his in a tortilla and ate it that way. Overall this is a great, versatile recipe. Thanks, Katrina!

Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2000
I served this for Christmas Eve dinner. I didn't have any fresh ginger, so I used a tsp. ground ginger. It turned out wonderful. I poured the pan drippings through a metal sieve to remove the marmalade (and other) chunks, then mixed it with a package of instant gravy mix and the gravy was incredible too. My husband said this was the best prime rib he has ever tasted! My in-laws really seemed to enjoy it. My son, who was tired and cranky that evening, refused to eat everything else on his plate, but he ate all his meat!! I have never made roast beef before, but this recipe was really easy and very, very good.

Chili Chicken Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2000
This is a good recipe (easy and yummy). It's more of a soup than a stew. I only used 1/2 the chili powder because I thought it might be too strong for my kids, and they really liked it!
