I thought this was a great cake. My friend and I made it today we did end up using the extra half a cup of milk and it worked wonderfully. I have not tried the cake w/o the extra milk so can't talk about comparisons. In between the layers of this cake we did put strawberry preserves then a layer of whip cream and then sliced strawberries on top of that before adding the next layer of cake. And we did this is 3 8" pans. For the icing we did a whipped cream but made the icing one a little sweeter than the one we did for the layers. The cake was amazing and delicious. A great spring/summer cake. I'd love to try it again with different fruits for the filling.
