Brownie-Mallow Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2012
I too used the D/H Dark Choc Fudge Brownie mix. The mix was not the amount the recipe called for (it was less). Regardless, I followed this recipes measurements and time and the brownie turned out great. The chocolate topping is delish! I do not recommend refrigerating this because the marshmallows got too stiff. My guests loved it and even wanted to bring some home to share with their kids and husbands. I really liked the richness and the flavors of each layer. I will definitely make his again.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
I used reduced fat parmesan, light mayo, and Brummel and Brown for the butter and only 1 T lemon juice. I didn't have any celery salt, increased the black pepper to probably 1 t, and used 1/4 t seasoned salt. After I sprinkled the herbs on the fish, I sprayed each fillet with cooking spray. Broiled for 4 minutes and didn't flip it. Added the coating on top of each fillet (I had 3 fillets, but there was enough coating for at least 4 more) and broiled on second rack from the top for 2 minutes on high. The fish was perfectly moist. The flavor was great. I will use this many more times and will try it on other white fish fillets!

Layered Hazelnut Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2009
This cheesecake was wonderful!!! Make sure you wait until the next day to eat it, or it won't have the perfect cheesecake density. Thank you for this great recipe!

French Breakfast Puffs

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
My two little kids and I really liked these. The only change I made was to use pumpkin pie spice in the muffin (which tastes similar to a doughnut!!) and a little with the cinnamon sugar blend. We also tried the puffs without anything on the outside and still thought they were good. Next time I will try them without the cinnamon/sugar and will instead put a powdered sugar glaze on top. I will definitely make these again!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
The only change I made was to use red onion instead of white or yellow. My kids and I thought the soup was great. Would use tortilla chips instead of homemade. 3/4 c- 1 c canned, rinsed black beans could be mixed in, if you like. My husband (the tortilla soup "connoisseur") said to increase the spices. I will definitely make this again.

Squash Casserole with Crunchy Pecan Topping

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
I followed this recipe, with the exception of butternut instead of acorn squash-- use two butternut, three makes too much for the baking dish. This turned out great!! My very picky 5 year old even liked it. The topping would also be good on sweet potatoes. For the last two minutes, I used the broiler to help toast the pecans. Great recipe, thanks!

Baked French Toast with Home Style Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
I didn't try the syrup recipe, only the french toast. I made it as directed. The toast looked nice. It came out a little fluffy and moist, however, the flavor was not good. I would next time omit the salt. Also, the cornflakes did add variety in texture, but their flavor didn't go with french toast. I would not recommend this recipe for the french toast.

Caryn's Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2004
I read the reviews and used a vidalia onion and 2 1/2c orange juice (instead of the green onion and juiced oranges). Neither my husband, nor I, liked this. The flavors didn't blend. The chicken wasn't tender. Overall, the flavor was strange. Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this recipe.
