Cinnamon Carrot Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
Yummm! What a wonderful recipe, I finely shredded the carrots in the food processor and used a bit more than a cup, still couldn't taste them that much, may use more next time. I also used more cinnamon and some fresh nutmeg. Also I wanted to make it even more moist, so I added about 1/4c of crème fraîche (sour cream would work just fine) and it turned out sooo moist and delicious!! (didn't have nuts, will use them next time) thanks for a wonderful recipe!!

Split Pea and Ham Soup I

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
mmmh, so ugly but so good!! I used sliced ham instead of the bone (ewww!) maybe it was because of this I found it a bit bland so I added some beef boullion and a bit of worcerstershire sauce. I also added some potatoes and carrots, in the end it was very hearty and filling. I added water a few times and it took about an 1 1/2hrs I served it with a dollup of sour cream on top, to make it creamy. Very good for a chilly evening, and great heated up for lunch the next day!

Apple Loaf

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2005
Bland and rubbery, was exactly how I would describe this bread. Maybe it was the apples I used (golden delicious- shredded) maybe I over-stirred the batter but this was no good!! If you want to make a great quick bread make Janet's rich banana bread from this site, it's soooooooo good. I might try that recipe with apples instead of bananas?

Homemade Vanilla Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2005
This is a great pudding to have like at 9pm when you're craving something sweet!! I love sugary things and it seemed a bit sweet for me, I might add less sugar. Also, I followed another's advice and dissolved the sugar and cornstarch in water before adding to milk so there would be no clumps, I also added a bit more cornstarch because of other reviews that said it didn't set, mine did fine. I would describe this pudding as easy and good but not a very rich pudding, I might call it albino pudding, it's so white and clear!! thanks rosemary

Amusement Park Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
this is really good but I didn't use all the sugar suggested and it was still plenty sweet. Also try and eat it all the same day, it isn't near as good the day after.

Quiche Lorraine I

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2005
this turned out really good but I made a few changes. I used evap. milk instead of reg. milk (sounded watery to me) and I used 4 eggs. I also sautéed a garlic clove with the onion. As others suggested I did heat the oven to at least 375 to make it cook faster. Good basic recipe you can adapt to your tastes!!

Coffee Date Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
This bread is really good, almost a gingerbread flavor I found. I was worried when it looked like I had mud in my mixing bowl but it turned out delicious. I didn't bother with the parchment paper and had no problems. Make sure to use really strong coffee, because it adds a lot of flavor. Unusual, delightful taste!!

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2005
Soooo moist and amazingly good!! I puréed my bananas because I don't like chunks, the sour cream makes this bread so good. Be careful not to overbake it, it might look not done but that's just because it's so moist, it will cool ok. I'll make it again soon!!

Best Brownies

sooo good! you'll never use a box again! Doesn't make much batter though, may want to increase by about 1/2 to make a nice thick brownie.

Linnie's Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2004
I added much more garlic than was suggested, about 3 cloves, needs spicy salsa otherwise is a bit bland, crème fraîche and shredded cheese top it off nicely.
