Delectable Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2013
Very tasty chicken. This was asian style and I sliced this up and served it over a bed of spinach and argula along with an Asian toasted sesame dressing. I will fix this again. It was very good and the soy wasn't too strong like teriaki chicken but this had a teriaki taste so I would call this teriaki-like. I liked it. Thanks for posting Wilemon!

Ground Beef with Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2013
This made great beef tostadas and burritos. As written this would have been too spicy for some of my diners so I cut the crushed red pepper and the cayenne pepper in half, skipped the salt instead using a cube of chicken boullion in with double the water, and subbed onion powder for the minced dried. I will use this easy recipe again. Thanks for posting.

Pasta and Herbs

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2013
This was a very different blend of flavors that we certainly weren't used to, so the first couple of bites, we both weren't sure what we thought, but we both ended up finishing our portions. This had a Mediterranean type flavor to it and actually we grew to like this dish. I'll probably fix this again. Thanks for a new recipe.

Sweet and Tangy Slow Cooker Bar-B-Q Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2013
Not quite barbecue, not quite swiss steak style meat either. This turned out tasty though and we would eat this again. I used beef country style boneless ribs. This was so simple to fix and then just let the slow cooker do all the work without heating up the kitchen. Thanks for a nice meal.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
This was a huge hit here. I can't believe how easy and fast it was to prepare too. I had this in the oven in minutes. My husband loved this and raved from the first bite. I used a little more garlic than called for and sprinkled a bit of kosher salt over the dish before baking. This was fantastic, thanks for posting!

Mom's Chili

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2013
This was great for a spicy chili with no effort. I only had a half onion and a can of Rotel that had cilantro and lime. I used chili seasoning II for this (only half of what it made, cutting the red pepper down to a third in that), and I only used half the can of Ro-tel and used up the other half can of petite diced tomatoes I opened from yesterday's meal. I added a can of beef consomme instead of water. This turned out thick and spicy and had quite a kick to it even with me cutting the Ro-Tel in half. I actually made a box of mac and cheese and then added the chili it and made chili mac with this. We topped it with sour cream and it was delicious and very filling. My husband was happy to have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Thanks for a good chili.

Wet Burrito

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
This got raves from my husband. He even went as far as to say it is better than On The Border's food. While this was good it wasn't the same flavor as OTB. This was mild and more Midwesternized than TexMex. I don't know how this can only yield 4 burritos though as I got 8 and they were stuffed and I still had some filling left. I didn't have refried beans so I took a can of Ranch Style beans non-drained and smashed them up some and went from there. I mixed the bean/comino mix into the meat so all I had to do to build these was a scoop of beef/bean mix and some cheese then roll up and move on to the next one. I only used 2/3 a can of diced tomatoes and did add a pinch of kosher salt to the beef mix. I used medium spice canned enchilada sauce and a jar of brown gravy. I didn't have a lot of just Cheddar so I used a mexican cheese blend mix too. This was a nice mild dish and my husband raved. He is looking forward to taking the leftovers to work for lunch and sharing. We eat a lot of Mexican food and this passed our taste test. This was not my favorite but hubs loved it and had seconds so that makes it a keeper. My biggest complaint? It dirtied a lot of pots! Oh well, the food is good and that is what matters most. Thanks, I really enjoyed trying out this new recipe!

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
This was the easiest meal I think I have ever fixed. My pork roast was seasoned with onion and garlic and they didn't have any plain ones at the store, so I used what I could find. I only had a small roast (3lb). This could have used some au jus as my husband wanted a dipping broth and there wasn't very much. This really didn't have any Wow factor or flavor but it is a good basic pulled pork dish. I prefer Kalua Pork if I'm going to make a pulled pork, but this is easy, much faster, and we still enjoyed this. My husband is looking forward to the leftovers to take to work for fixing breakfast taquitos. Thanks for the easy recipe!

Potato Soup V

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2013
This was a hit with the family. This had a lot of "soup" and I wish there had been more potatoes as it seemed to need some body. I really didn't like this soup personally but I am super picky and the lack of body in the soup part, plus the celery and onion chunks, and I thought it was blah and needed cheese, bacon, and sour cream and would have much preferred my loaded baked potato soup. This was the cream of potato soup that my mom made and loved when I was growing up. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. My husband loved it though.

Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2013
Delicious. I remember my Mom used to bake acorn squash all the time and I loved it, so I wanted to give this a try when I saw the squash at the store. I added double the butter though as I used 1 T per half and baked both halves side by side open faced. I did score the flesh inside once they were soft so the butter could get all throughout. This was good and even my husband mentioned he liked it. I think I will try microwaving it the next time as this took over an hour to have ready.

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2013
Very very creamy. Too creamy for me. I used canned milk, and quick cook 1 minute oats and I let this boil for a minute so the oats were cooked, but even then the oats seemed to need more cooking and tasted raw to me. The flavor is fine mostly except for the raw oat taste, but the texture is weird. Very creamy like pudding and then there are these oat pieces. I just couldn't finish my serving but it was a texture thing not a flavor thing. My husband ate his and his only comment was, "It's too sweet." I didn't taste any butterscotch flavor.

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2013
Easiest fastest recipe for cobbler ever. I used a small can of sliced peaches and a can of pitted cherries and drained both then simply arranged the fruit on top of the batter. This turned out fabulous and received raves from my husband. I used a pyrex pie plate. Lovely dish and was no effort at all. Thanks!

Grilled Chicken and Herbs

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
This was fast, simple, and even wowed my husband who is picky about herbs and spices especially with meat. He enjoyed this very much and I will definitely be fixing this again this summer.

Southern Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2013
I used precooked bacon and then added some unsalted butter to make up for the bacon grease that was missing. I used frozen whole green beans and this turned out well. It was a little sweet but not obviously so. This was really good and I will definitely be fixing this again with fresh green beans the next time. This is a wonderful way to showcase those summer beans fresh from the garden. Thanks I really enjoyed this dish.

Creamy Chicken Stuffing Bake

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2013
Super simple to put this one together and it is a man pleaser. I used cream of celery soup instead of cream of mushroom since it is what I had. I didn't serve this over mashed potatoes but it would have been better if I had. It seemed to need something else beneath it as it was more of a saucy topper. It was very good and we enjoyed this dish quite a bit. I will be fixing this again. Thanks!

Richard's Breakfast Scramble

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2013
Excellent recipe! This was fast to put together, tasted wonderful and was very filling too. I used onion powder and only 1 tsp. and didn't have a full cup of cheese. I didn't stir this while cooking, I lifted the cooked edges and let the uncooked egg run beneath and put a lid on the pan so I wouldn't have to attempt turning this over. This fed two of us so if you are really planning on feeding this to four then you should increase the recipe. Of course, we had it for dinner with only biscuits and honey butter for sides. It was great though and we both enjoyed this meal very much. Thanks!

Collins Goulash

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
This is man pleasing good and got raves from my husband. It was so easy to fix and pretty much all I had to do was open a couple of cans and stir once the meat was browned. Easy, fast, and it made my hubby rave so it's a winner! All I could taste was cream of mushroom soup but my family loved this so it will go into my "KEEP" file. Thanks for the yum yums.

Chocolate Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
This was homemade Hershey's chocolate syrup. This was a runny thin syrup exactly like Hershey's too. It was a bit chalky or powdery tasting to me but I think that is because of cocoa powder and lack of milkfat in this recipe. It was fast to make and good over ice cream, fresh fruit, and cake. It is of drizzling quality and too thin to really dip without making a drippy mess. It was super simple and uses ingredients I always have so it will be handy for future reference. Thanks, I can use this again and again.

Kafta (BBQ)

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
This was amazing! I have been looking for a recipe for a kebab similar to our favorite Greek souvlaki and this is not quite it but the most wonderful replacement. I used ground sirloin and they came out a little dry and needed some type of sauce. The flavor was so incredible. I used dried parsley flakes and added a pinch of mint because I had to add some of myself to this. One fell off the skewer so it might be easier to simply make sticks instead and skip the skewers. I served this with yellow rice and salad. This was a perfect grilled dish. Hubs raved too. As a foodie I rave a lot over dishes, he does not. He just eats and doesn't care so when he comments positively the dish must be outstanding. Oh and it is. Thanks for sharing this is a new favorite!

Baked Denver Omelet

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
Delicious! I am not a fan of green pepper or onion but I like the flavor in certain dishes and I was feeling adventurous so I fixed this. I scaled this down to 1 serving (2 eggs) and I minced my pepper and onion very tiny before cooking so I wouldn't encounter large icky pieces of it while eating. I used smoked dinner ham and I do think using a good quality and flavor of ham makes a difference in this dish. I was really not expecting to like this but trying to expand my food boundaries, and hesitantly took a bite. Oh. My. Goodness. My mouth is in heaven. I devoured this whole thing and it was fabulous to the last bite. This turned out moist and not at all dry like I thought. I didn't have the proper size baking dish so I lined a pie plate with aluminum foil and bent it up to make a small foil "boat" in the size I needed. I still can't believe how delicious this dish was!!! Thanks for sharing and I am soo glad I tried this.
