About this Cook
I started cooking when I was 3 years old. Yes...I said 3 years old. My mom started teaching me and I took off from there. I love all thing outdoors and to do wtih animals. My boyfriend is in the military so I specialize in finding good deals on everyday things. lol.
My favorite things to cook
Paella, cookies, candy, tamales, ANYTHING southern (I was born and raised in the south and come from a VERY southern family), and Spanish dishes are some of my favorites (Spanish meaning from Spain not Mexico).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Starting when I was 2 we would go over to my grandmothers house and decorate home made sugar cookies every year. We weren't allowed to eat them though until Christmas day.
My cooking triumphs
My oven broke one year in the middle of making Thanksgiving dinner. My turkey had been in the oven for only an hour and the thermostat or something broke and the oven just stayed on and kept getting hotter and hotter. I made the best of it and ended up with a killer Thanksgiving dinner that fed 8 single Navy guy and me and my SO. Everyone raved about the food and how juicy my turkey was. :)
My cooking tragedies
lol. Well...where to begin. lol. I have quite a few but most I ended up turning into great dishes so I don't really think of them as tragedies. The one big one that comes to mind was the first time I ever baked a cake. I never really liked baking cakes and always felt intimidated by cakes. (Don't ask me why I just did. lol)I wanted to bake my mom her favorite cake for her birthday so I set out to do it. Ther first layer baked up great and I had no troubles with it. I poured the mix for the second layer and put it in the oven. While in the middle of baking it one of my siblings got into something so I had to go clean up the mess and get everything situated with that. I totally forgot about the cake until the smoke alarm went off. I rushed into the kitchen only to find my cake a burnt charcol. Needless to say...from that point on I am VERY VERY careful with baking cakes and still feel rather intimidated by them. lol.

Baked Potato Soup I
VERY GOOD. A great soup for those cold winter days. Stays with you for a long time. Very rich so it's hard to eat alot. Definetly will be making this more often.
